Steelers linebackers coach turns down Miami offer
That's a bummer. Groh would rather coach a college defense, too. No one wants to work for Parcells? Quote: Steelers linebackers coach turns down Miami offer Friday, January 15, 2010 By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Linebackers coach Keith Butler has turned down the Miami Dolphins' offer to become their defensive coordinator and will remain with the Steelers, the Post-Gazette has learned.
Butler, 52, who has been with the Steelers for seven seasons, worked for two years in Cleveland with Dolphins Coach Tony Sparano (1999-2000). He is considered to be the person who will become the Steelers defensive coordinator whenever Dick LeBeau retires. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10015/1028525-66.stm

So, what other options do we have?
How about Dick Jauron?

Jauron wouldn't be a bad option. What does everybody think of Jim Mora Jr.? He has a defensive background.

I don't know...do coordinators do as their told and adapt, or do they almost always bring in the defense that they know? I'd think if you're going to make a hire, you'd want a guy that is proficient in the scheme that you want to run.

Ah no wonder he hasn't been mentioned... I can't keep up with the dang schemes all these coordinators run...

Re: Steelers linebackers coach turns down Miami offer
Guys, has it ever happened that a team was unable to hire a coach for any position? (Even a head coach) If that should happen, what would a team do?

The guy NE just fired, Pees(?) I think, or doesn't want to return. Knows Brady and NE defensive tendencies better than anybody.

I believe Miami acted too quickly in firing PP so maybe others see the talent void on Miami's D & figure they will have a hard time doing anything with it.

I think it speaks volumes to what coaches think of our future......not very reassuring, is it?

I don't think so, the guy had no scheme. Opposing players have stated how predictable we were. PP couldn't even land another DC job, he's now a position coach. The guy has never held a big position in his career for more than 2 years.

If you had the chance to take over Pitt or Miami what would you choose?
