It's one thing to have an affair, it's another thing to have a child out of your marriage and cover it up for 7 years. Like I said, this story is just starting........and this is the kind of story the tabloid media will eat up.

Did he cover it up from his wife? Sounds like he simply spared his family a public circus, and at the same time was able to keep a high paying job to support their lifestyle. I don't condone his affair, but lets not label him anything until all the facts are out.

Right, but if he paid to hide it from his wife and kids while pretending to still be the all American dad then I see that as far worse than if he made a mistake, owned up to it with his family, and paid to hide it so that he wouldn't lose his job and could help them support their lifestyle. Last I checked he doesn't go on CBS each week and beam about what a moral life he lives. Its not of our business what he does in private.

We know had an affair, set the mother and child up financially elsewhere, and somehow got exposed. Thats about it.

Listening to Jim Rome all day .... who is now on CBS Sports Radio. They haven't mentioned 1 word about it. Go figure.

Right now there is only one difference between Marino and Arnold: Arnold hid the fact that he had a child out of wedlock from his wife and kids for years. Marino, we aren't sure about what happened in that area. The rest is the same.

This whole thing is pretty embarrassing to CBS, Dan's one of their leading sports hosts. Sunday will be the most watched show/event of the year.........and Dan's a big part of the production, whether it's commentary or previously recorded interviews.

Considering, the woman was a previous production assistant with CBS..........CBS executives, co-hosts and other personnel also have a lot to answer for.........when did they know, did they participate in the cover up, did CBS provide compensation to the woman for her silence, i.e. did CBS commit inappropriate or possibly illegal actions to aid in the cover up?

The whole Dan-gate is going to be a big distraction this Sunday impacting CBS, the NFL and all the sponsors who spent millions for commercial space. For CBS and Dan, the disclosure couldn't have happened at a worse time.

No doubt we're going to hear some troubling things about Dan's personnel life over the next several weeks. Unless he pulls an OJ............it can't take away from what he did on the field.

He and Claire have been a huge positive force in Miami, there's the Miami Children's Hospital Dan Marino Outpatient Center, all the work and money they raised for Autism Research and Aid, the two children they took in from impoverished countries, etc.

These are just the kind of people the press and the public love to take down, first, because it's a surprise.............second, it makes people feel better about their own lives.

First of all, if it was consensual and CBS approached her to "settle" to stay quiet and it was a substantial amount, I am sure she went along with it. Inappropriate, probably, but my guess is that she benefited comfortably off this.

My take is of course having an affair is wrong, but we are ALL human, therefore no one is perfect and we all make mistakes and poor choices in life. At end of the day it is none of anyone's business and especially to judge him.

Hopefully,he learned from it and becomes an even better person from the misfire poor choice and I am quite sure no one is suffering more than him deep down.

Whatever happened doesn't change my view of him as one of the greatest NFL Quarterbacks of all-time and the best Miami Dolphin to ever put on a uniform.

I feel sorry for the child. How awkward is that going to be to attempt to contact her half-siblings later in life. Imagine her being at his house around his wife .... Claire Marino will never be able to forget where the child came from.

10acjed, I agree dude. Dan made a poor choice, no doubt and I do not condone what he did, but who really knows the whole story of their marriage and what goes on in their private life and not my place to cast judgement.
