 Ireland talks up Lamar Miller
Quote: Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland singled out Lamar Miller as the player he's expecting the most growth from in 2013. The fog is starting to clear, and it's looking more and more likely that free agent Reggie Bush will not be re-signed. "Lamar really showed some great signs of really some explosive-play opportunity," Ireland said. "He kind of shoots out of the cannon when he hits the hole. He’s got very good hands. I thought he did a very good job in his pass protection, which keeps him on the field all three downs." Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald recently reported that Miami thinks Miller can be an upgrade on Bush as a system fit in Joe Philbin's zone-run scheme. Daniel Thomas, or another veteran, would likely be Miller's backup. -Rotoworld

Re: Ireland talks up Lamar Miller
Miller's college coach said he was a 1st round pick if he stayed in school one more year. Now we get to see.
It's pretty clear Ireland/Philbin wanted the pieces to come together for 2013. Looks like that plan is coming together.

You can't keep all of your free agents. That's why you have do draft successfully. The running back position has become one of those positions that can be done by committee these days, and teams are finding good backs in later rounds. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins took a back in the middle of the draft to upgrade/push Daniel Thomas if possible.

For sure Dave. I disagree, we have the kid from Notre Dame that hurt his knee 2 years ago...heard he was impressing in training camp.

I think Phibin and Ireland like what they saw from this kid...took him off the PUP list in October! I think it will be a rotation of Miller and Gray....young and explosive if healthy!

Re: Ireland talks up Lamar Miller
I think Miller and Thomas will be fine as long as the o-line gets straightened out. That is the key to a successful ground game.

My fear is that we don't resign Bush and then he goes to New England and he puts up a thousand yards rushing and a thousand receiving with fifteen total TDs.
I like Miller, Thomas, and Thigpen but I still think that this team needs to resign Bush as long as the contract is within reason.

Not a reason to resign someone..
