 jennings wants 14mil/yr
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3652/greg-jenningsTom Pelissero of ESPN Twin Cities "heard" at the Combine that free agent Greg Jennings is seeking $14 million a year. $14 million annually would make Jennings the NFL's third highest paid wide receiver behind Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. No one is going to pay that much for an injury-prone wideout entering his age-30 season. Per Pelissero, there is a "popular theory" among NFL front offices that wide receivers will "sit on the market" like inside linebackers did last year. In other words, they may price themselves out of the initial wave of free agency. Feb 22 - 8:28 AM i thought everyone here was saying jennings would be cheaper. Id rather hv wallace for that type of money.

 Re: jennings wants 14mil/yr
I didn't mean it as anything against you personally for posting this, but I have seen this posted on numerous sites and the feedback and experts are calling this out as false. Take their opinion (and the guy who reported this whole $14m deal) for what its worth, but Jennings is not aiming for Calvin Johnson type money. He may start high from a negotiating standpoint and meet somewhere in the middle around $7m, but an astronomical contract like that is not what he would logically be looking for.

Just to add to this, Chris Mortenson said that Miami is considering going after both Wallace and Jennings. That not the case if Jennings is looking for 14 mill/per year.

Huge is an understatement if, like you said, Jennings stays healthy and Wallace doesn't have get paid syndrome. Would be one of, if not the best, WR corps in the league.

I know people will balk at the cost but that is the type of bold move that changes Ireland's image. However, I just don't see it happening.

That could mean they go after both and sign whichever one agrees to terms first, but not sign both.

Rich, I absolutely agree with you & "if" this were to happen, I would be for Hartline walking as this trio would be a nice nucleus for the fins receiving corp.

 Re: jennings wants 14mil/yr
I agree Dave. It is possible that Hartline and Jennings at the end of the day "could" end up getting similar contracts. In that case, it wouldn't be so far fetched that Miami get Wallace & Jennings.
However, I can understand that if Jennings does stick to his guns and command much more that it is completely unrealistic that Miami can sign both those guys together.
We are getting closer and closer to free agency! Cannot wait to see what happens.

I don't see much of a disparity in what it could cost to sign Wallace and keep Hartline and what it would cost to sign Wallace and Jennings.

Needs a WR but ... If that's the case then can the idea of us getting Jennings. I'm a fan of what the guy has done on the field, and I think he'd be a great addition, but if Philbin doesn't want him then I'd have to take his word for it. With any of these former Packers we tend to look at now I trust the word of Philbin and Sherman over anyone else. On a side note, Jennings is crazy if he thinks anyone is going to pay him $14M a season. I'd rather pay Wallace $12M a season than pay Jennings $14M a season, and it's no mystery I don't really like the idea of the Dolphins getting Wallace. If any of this is true, I'd much rather see the Dolphins draft their receiver talent. I think there is a lot of value to be had in rounds 2-4 this year. Guys like Justin Hunter, Robert Woods, Terrance Williams, Tavon Austin, DeAndre Hopkins, Ryan Swope, Kenny Stills, etc are all possibly going to come off the board in rounds 2-4. I'm a big fan of us going after Hunter in the 2nd and Swope in the 4th.

 Re: jennings wants 14mil/yr
The Pats just signed Brady to an extension opening up cap room and creating a buzz amongst reporters that they are entering the WR free agent market for one last push.
Pretty much everyone seems to think Wallace is the target.
Whether its Jennings, Wallace or Bowe these guys are going to get paid. Not 14 million, but paid.

 Re: jennings wants 14mil/yr
Now being reported that Jennings wants $12mill/yr. Its not $14, but still not worth it...not even worth it if hes in the $7-9/yr range, imo. Teams are setting themselves up to be in position to overpay free agents, most likely to only get restructured the next year. I say overspend on Wallace, make him an offer no other team will, then just restructure next year to a more cap friendly figure. Dallas cleared $10mill just by restructuring the Chris Carr contract that was signed only a year ago. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3652/greg-jennings
