Post NFL Post: Dolphins interested in moving down in the draft

With just under two weeks to go until the 2010 NFL draft, you can expect the frequency of reports such as this one to start increasing.

Could the Dolphins be looking to trade down AND still land Bryant?

According to our own Michael Lombardi, the Miami Dolphins may be looking to trade down from their current spot in the first round in an effort to land more draft picks.

“From talking to teams around the league, I hear the Dolphins are looking to move down from the 12th pick in the draft to acquire more picks,” writes Lombardi.

Miami has been rumored to be interested in Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant, most likely due to the fact that their top three receivers—Ted Ginn, Davone Bess and Greg Camarillo—combined to score just three touchdowns in 2009.

However, Bryant’s stock has taken a hit since the wideout ran a 4.52 and 4.68 40-yard-dash at his recent pro day. The 6’2”, 220-pound receiver forgot his best pair of spikes and then lashed out at the media for criticizing him.

Maybe the Dolphins figure they can trade down, acquire some additional picks and still get their man.

If they are lucky enough to have Dez available at 12, they will not trade down.

If he is not there, than yes I can see a trade down.

I cannot see any scenario where Miami spends a No. 1 pick on a Wr. Miami will go for Dan Williams or a pass rusher. Wr will have to wait until Rd. 2 where there are several worthy of that spot without the off field considerations.

People always talk about Bill Parcells never spending first round picks on WR's.

Name me the last 1st round NT that Parcells drafted.

I think the trade down rumours are real...Dan Williams is not on our radar, i think anyway, and the only eligible pick for the FO at 12 is a pass rusher..if who they like isnt there they trade down, I think

Would be sweet if we could trade back 8 or so.. pick up an additional 2nd rounder. Then still get Bryant. Then we could either package those 2 picks to get another first rounder. Or draft 2 guys like Cam Thomas and Jerry Hughes.

Hope people realize trading down is not a given. If you want to take pennies on the dollar than sure, but other teams have to target a player who is worth trading up for. A lot easier said than done.

Spiller and Bryant may be there at 12. If so, you have to think that SOMEONE will want either or. If that is the case. You trade back and might get lucky to find 1 of the 2 remaining when we select.
