Dolphins making a strong push to keep Jake Long
Quote: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are making a "strong push" to re-sign free agent LT Jake Long. Long took an extended visit with the Rams this week. He met with the coaches, had a dinner, stayed the night and even passed a physical. But there's no deal yet, which suggests the two sides have been unable to come to terms on a contract. We now appear to be in a "bidding war" situation, something the Dolphins haven't been scared of this week.

Works for me, at the right price. One less thing to address in the draft. Then go after corners, a tight end and a pass rusher.

Re: Dolphins making a strong push to keep Jake Long
If Miami signs Long then the draft is going to be all CB and line depth.
I knew they'd make a couple moves but holy smokes I didn't expect them to keep as many guys as they did, add huge needs and revamp certain positions.
I wonder what their offer to Long is? 4 years 30 million with 10-12 guaranteed?
He must be ticked that the market wasn't what he thought it would be.

He must be ticked that the market wasn't what he thought it would be. I had a similar thought. I wonder if the Dolphins are telling him its in Long's best interest to sign for a year or two with us, prove his health/worth, & then sign a better deal later when the market is improved

Re: Dolphins making a strong push to keep Jake Long
I'd love to see the Dolphins re-sign Long for a fair deal (short term) and keep him as our LT or sign Winston from the Chiefs to a short term deal to play RT. Then go after a nice corner like Antoine Cason from the Chargers. This way we'd enter the draft mostly settled at WR, OT, TE, DE and CB. We could then take the best player available with our first five picks instead of picking out of need. I'd love to see this play out:
Free Agency: Wallace Ellerbe Wheeler Clemons Keller Long Cason
Draft: 1-Xavier Rhodes CB FSU 2-Zach Ertz TE Stanford 2-Eddie Lacy RB Alabama 3-Bacarri Rambo S Georgia or Margus Hunt DE SMU 3-Barrett Jones OL Alabama 4-Brian Schwenke OL Cal 5-William Gholston DL Michigan St 7-Tyrann Mathieu CB LSU
