Post Another big free agent signing
apoupartFins #Dolphins have just announced the signing of LS Patrick Scales, first-year player from Utah State. Competition for John Denney?

Just as an FYI, cutting Denney would save roughly $800K in cap space.

In other news the Patriots sign another solid d lineman in Tommy Kelly......Are the books clean yet from the signings of the year Chad Johnson and Fat Albert?

Maybe Brady can play for even less and TO will sign.

These two quotes are contradictive of each other:

Quote:
Denney has a cap figure of 1,013,750, which means the Dolphins would preserve all bout $143,750 of his salary if he were released.

Not sure which to believe lol, I'm no cap expert.

Wanna save a couple million in cap space? Cut Dan Carpenter and spend a 7th rounder on Caleb Sturgis or Dustin Hopkins.

Dan Carpenter's missed kicks cost this team a winning record.

While there were other factors that led to our record, I agree, Carpenter's cold streak couldn't have come at a worse time. If he had been dialed in like he normally was, or like he was towards the end of the season, we would have finished at least 9-7. But in my opinion he's still one of the best. If his head is right going into camp, I see no reason not to retain him. If Ireland and Philbin want to make a point, I see nothing wrong with bringing in a rookie undrafted free agent to make him sweat a little in camp.

He is not one of the best.....With his contract number he better be one of the best

I think it's safe to say he will have to win his job this year.

No, they are not. Subtract $143,750 from $1,013,750 and you'll see how I got to my estimate.
