Report: Cowboys in talks with FA Eric Winston ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys are in contract talks with free agent RT Eric Winston.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms there is "mutual interest" to finalize a deal. Winston, 29, has been a zone-blocking right tackle throughout his career and Dallas generally plays power-running offense, so perhaps the Cowboys are implementing a zone scheme. He'd be an upgrade on Doug Free regardless. If Winston is signed, the Cowboys would ponder moving Free inside to right guard. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter Apr 8 - 3:39 PM

You should change the title to "i jumped the gun"

Bryan Broaddus of DallasCowboys.com disputes reports that the team has interest in free agent RT Eric Winston. Broaddus has strong knowledge of the Cowboys' intentions. He indicated on Twitter that Winston's name is only being linked to Dallas for agent-driven purposes. Winston's agent is Drew Rosenhaus, who has a history of using teams to attempt to drive interest in his clients. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is also reporting that the Cowboys are "not in contract talks" with Winston.

He was just on live on Sirius & said nothing is imminent. Wants 3-4 mil per year. Had an offer from San Diego but declined it.

Drew Rosenhaus is doing what every agent should do. Try and stimulate some interest and get your client the best deal possible. You can't blame him for trying.

A great zone blocker and I'd love to have him. But what can be said about him being cut twice in the past two seasons?

We should sign him for $3 million a year. But maybe the hold up is the length.

You're probably right, if all he wants is $3M a season for one year, I think the Dolphins would have already made that deal.

He also said at this point he might be better off waiting until camp when somebody gets hurt bringing the leverage back on his side. Seems like a pretty well spoken guy who is a bit pissed at the system. Stopped just short of using the term collusion. He did make a pretty good point that having an elite QB while brings success , at some point will hand cuff a team salary cap wise when he has to be re signed.

I'd sign him for two years. Let the media slam us for it.
