Looks like Dion Jordan is already under contract. That was fast!

"Dion Jordan's contract as No. 3 pick is a 4-year deal worth $20.57 mil (fully gtd) with $13.34m signing bonus"

He's not under contract. That's the contract he is slated to get given the current CBA.

I see. Seemed like it was too fast! Thanks for clearing that up, Rich.

so Jaime Dukes and Heath Evans don't like Jordan. LOL

Every draft expert says he's one of the best 5 players in the draft but these 2 coconuts just don't see it.
Evans said that all the great pass rushers have thick legs and butt and weigh near 270.

Guess he never watched Jason Taylor, Jevon kearse and Aldon Smith.

Not as much as i don't like Dukes and Evans....Evans pretends he was a life long Patriot and was a super star

Or watched a 3-4 defense.

Cameron Wake, best pass rusher in the NFL according to PFF, weighs 241 lbs.

John Abraham, 255 lbs.

Chris Clemons, 234 lbs.

And those are the 4-3 guys.

In a 3-4, Aldon Smith is 255 lbs.

Clay Matthews, 240 lbs.

Robert Mathis, 235 lbs.

STFU Evans... you're just a Dolphins hater because they didn't bother resigning you.

Aldon Smith is 260, Jevon Kearse was 265. Not the best examples you could have used

I rounded up 2lbs apparently. Still, closer to 260 than 255

Kearse was light as a feather. I always heard 235 to 245 throughout his career.

PFF says 255. Coming out of college, he was lighter.

Guess what Aldon's Smith scouting report said.

Lacks strength, needs to gain weight to be a pass rusher in the NFL.

Doesn't seem like a problem now as one of his best weapons is his bull rush (ask Jonathan Martin).

He's right about Kearse. He was always in the 260-265 range.

But Taylor weighed 230 lbs soaken wet coming out of Akron.

I don't like the move up to get Jordan. He is a solid player, not a great player. That would concern me. This is a panic move.

Has him at 265. Granted, that could be a current weight and not a playing weight, and it is wiki, so take it for what it's worth

Actually looks like swerve may be right.

Quote:
"I'm just not a cottage cheese man," Kearse says, pursing his lips and shaking his head. This setback is minor, though, in what has been Kearse's toughest test as a pro—maintaining an adequate playing weight. The chiseled, 6'4" Kearse is still listed at 265 pounds on the Titans' roster, but in recent weeks he has dropped almost 20 pounds. Strength and rehabilitation coach Steve Watterson, concerned that Kearse's eating habits were no match calorically for the rigors of the NFL, has started him on a daily regimen centered not in the weight room but in the dining room of Kearse's suburban Nashville town house. On this night, in an effort to consume roughly 3,500 calories, Kearse—while steering clear of the cottage cheese—attacks most everything else lying on the two catering trays before him, a cornucopia of steak, chicken kabobs, grilled trout, pasta with scallops and shrimp, crab salad, chicken salad, potatoes, garlic bread and a fruit basket. "If I don't put some weight on," he says through a mouthful of chicken, "I'm in trouble."

teams always list guys taller and heavier on their rosters, but I remember people saying he had a weird undersized build for an end. That's why he was a freak.

Unless he's a huge guy, then they get listed lighter than they are. I can think of a few D-lineman that were listed a lot lighter than they looked

I know they keep saying Jordan is around 240 lbs. but man he looks way bigger than that. He has huge muscular arms and thick powerful legs for a tall man. I would have guessed he was 6'7 265. Looks bigger than Aldon Smith to me.

Dude no offense, but it's not close. Look at Aldon Smith's tape from back at Mizzou; he was WAY bigger than Dion.

Dion's legs are sticks. He played at 226 pounds last year. Aldon Smith probably played 35 pounds heavier at Mizzou.

And btw, Rich will like this one: he's been working on his Greco-Roman pummeling.

his legs really arent sticks. He's just so tall.
At the risk of sounding gay, his upper legs and butt are thick and muscular.
I think his complete lack of bodyfat keeps him so light.

I looked at pictures of them both and Jordan has more muscle mass when I see them.
I'm a tall guy and I know how hard it is the look or be massive when you have long limbs, that's what's so impressive to me about Jordan, I can visually see dense muscle mass even though he's as tall as NBA forwards.

Smith measured in at 6'4, 263 at the combine. Jordan 6'6 and a half, 248...And the 248 was after gaining a lot of weight leading up to the combine.

Aldon has put on a lot of muscle since then, but I think even at Mizzou he played much heavier than Dion did at Oregon. At least 20-30 pounds heavier.

That said, Dion in 16 months is going to be an absolute beast physically.

My son wrestles.

His team has won county championship 3 out of the last 5 years.

The coach's approach is to make his wrestlers lean, not muscular. And it works.

I don't know how many matches I've seen where the other kid is more muscular than ours and has a faster start, but by round 3 those muscles have a harder time getting oxygen and our kid outlasts them.

There are ways to use agility and quickness to counter strength and size.

happens all the time in MMA. Looks can be deceiving. and I think length is a big advantage.
I think the better athlete always wins. It's not a bodybuilding competition. I've known plenty of guys that look like hulks who can't fight a lick.

Dion Jordan is built like Udonis Haslem. He wants to play like Lawrence Taylor.

Jordan, the Miami Dolphins’ latest first-round selection, arrived in Miami to great fanfare Saturday. Flashbulbs, his general manager and a lucky season-ticket holder were among those welcoming him to town.

But with a passing glance, one could easily confuse Jordan with an NBA small forward and not a budding NFL defensive lineman.

He stands more than 6-foot-6, but weighs a mere 250 pounds. There’s a reason one of his coaches at Oregon nicknamed him the “Preying Mantis.” He’s all arms and legs.

“For me personally, improving my weight and my strength is an area that I’m looking forward to getting better at,” Jordan said in his first South Florida media availability.

“I feel like I can play with the same speed and the same motor right around 260 [pounds],” Jordan added. “I know it’s something that I have to do personally. I’m going to take care of that and get ready for the season.”
