I can't tell you how excited I am that Ireland signed Grimes.

Morning take: Brent Grimes a steal?

Did the Miami Dolphins get a pair of free-agent steals with right tackle Tyson Clabo and cornerback Brent Grimes?

Morning take: I was particularly impressed with Grimes last week in practice. He is a playmaking corner, which is some Miami lacked last year. The Dolphins need Grimes to stay healthy after he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in 2012.

Me too Dave! Grimes is the kind of corner that sticks to the receiver and he makes plays on the ball and not just on the receiver like us Dolphin fans are so used to seeing.

It is safe to say that he is very motivated to regain his form and show that he is healthy.

Clabo was a nice signing too, all he did was hold down a starting spot helping to protect Matt Ryan.

My worry is that he's going to fully recover, show that he's still a top-flight corner, and the command too high of a salary for us to keep him around.

You have to become the type of team that constantly finds top talent, and isn't afraid to let someone leave even if they still may have some gas left in the tank. You have to have a system in place and the depth to stay afloat. The Dolphins are building that now. Philbin has Ireland making solid choices. Use Grimes for now. Let the future unfold. The franchise QB is about the only position you can afford to worry about long term.

Even if he is a stop gap (he is), as long as we keep drafting good talent the holes will be easy to fill as they appear (see N.E. Patriots)

I'm personally hoping that both play well this year, and that at least one returns next year. While it would be a nice story to see Grimes get his career back on track in a Dolphins uniform, recovering from that kind of injury is tough. I have my doubts that he'll ever be what he once was. I want the guy to play well, but my gut tells me a rookie will be replacing him before the season is over.

He's definitely not going to be what he once was. Anyone expecting him to be is going to be disappointed. He's on the wrong side of 30 (by the time the season starts he'll be 30) and has had a couple of significant injuries. That being said, I still think he can be a Pro Bowl caliber player if he's 100% recovered.

Franchise tag.

If you think the Patriots drafted good filling holes...Try looking at wr's db's and dlineman they have drafted the past ten years...Bust after bust

exactly. The Patriots stay relevant because of the offensive system. It works. They dink and dunk teams to death with the screen pass. But they only get so far and get knocked out by better, more complete teams.

Excellent to hear. The better the defense is, the more prepared Tannehill will be. And look out if a team doesn't have a DB who can hang with Wallace! TD all day!
