Gardner (6-3, 215), an undrafted rookie from Sierra (Calif.) College, agreed to terms with San Diego but never joined the team. Earlier this month Gardner and the Chargers mutually agreed to part ways so Gardner could take care of some "personal matters," according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Nothing is certain, though JUCO sensation Courtney Gardner may complete a lengthy and bumpy route to Norman.
To say Gardner is a play-maker is quite an understatement. True, there is a big difference between tradition-rich Oklahoma and Sierra (Calif.) College where he starred last season. What cannot be doubted is Gardner’s size (6-3, 224) and his sheer athletic ability on the football field and on the oval. Gardner just finished his time at Sierra College and was expected to attend Oklahoma in the fall, but academic issues forced him to the NFL instead.
