Which ’12 draft picks are poised to break out?

Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins

GM Jeff Ireland continues to hype Miller, and he opened minicamp taking reps with the Dolphins’ first-team offense. He’s at least got the leg up on Daniel Thomas and rookie Mike Gillislee, for now, in the race to replace Reggie Bush. Miller delivered some solid numbers, too, when given a shot in 2012 — he finished with a 4.9 yards-per-carry average on 51 attempts.

Coby Fleener, TE, Colts
Akiem Hicks, DT/DE, Saints
Lamar Holmes, OT, Falcons
Alshon Jeffery, WR, Bears
A.J. Jenkins, WR, 49ers
Nick Perry, OLB, Packers
Brian Quick, WR, Rams
Riley Reiff, T, Lions
David Wilson, RB, Giants

His playmaking ability wasn't the problem last year. It was his pass blocking that was an issue.

Hopefully he worked on that this offseason. This kid is a gamer. He went to my high school.

I want to see Miller do well but I think its more important that Tannehill "breaks out." I'd argue he has more weapons to work with that position him to step up. Miller is running behind an o-line with new starting tackles, maybe a new RG and a new TE that isn't known for blocking (unless Sims takes away that many snaps).

Having a balanced attack that can both run and pass it the key. Tannehill will have a much easier job if Miami is able to run the ball successfully. If Miami can run the ball, play action passing will be lethal. Especially with Wallace and Keller stretching defenses. Its going to be an awesome season to watch!!! Just having Wallace run deep routes is going to give the running game a boost because one of the safeties will have to stay back in double coverage.

This should work, nothing is telling me otherwise. If I remember correctly, nfl.com had Lamar Miller as the #1 back in the league in facing inferior run defending teams which gives him a leg up over everyone else fantasy wise.

So hopefully we will get a lot of chances, I really loved the Clabo signing and anything under 1,000 yards from our primary back would be a huge disappointment unless it was for systematic purposes in lack of plays which I see no reason in that happening.

Having the offensive line gel will be a big part of the equation. Hopefully Martin can succeed at LT. Clabo should have some gas left in the tank at RT. The starting RG is going to end up being John Jerry or Lance Louis. And Dallas Thomas will push for playing time as well.
