You can't make this stuff up.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Former NFL star Chad Johnson was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail for a probation violation in a domestic violence case by a judge who angrily rejected a no-jail plea deal after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the backside in court.

Here is a link for a video of the court proceedings.

Usually I am on the side of the judge in these cases for people being dis respective in a court room but I think she over stepped here. She complimented the attorney & while slapping him on the butt was not the best way to acknowledge her compliment of him he really could not control the reaction of the people there.
I have to admit though when I first heard about this on the radio at work this afternoon & assumed the attorney was a woman & that is why he got 30 days.
I bet if we signed him tomorrow some would like the move ... LOL

This is vintage Chad Johnson. He has very little self control. I think that is probably a new low for him.

It still just boggles my mind that Chad Johnson is waking up in jail for this & had he not been cut & was a current member of this team we would all be in agreement on this.
Now I know you can probably say had he not been cut all this would not be going on but once again I think this is a judge who might be angling for her own TV show.

He is still doing less time than 95% of the people who go in front of a judge for the same charge.

I'd love to see Ocho Cinco get shipped out to Arizona. Have him serve his 30 days in one of Sheriff Joe Arapaio's jails. We'll see if his attitude changes then.

After watching the video, I really don't think he meant anything improper. The Judge got pissed because the courtroom started laughing. Anyway, 30 days in the pokey may do him some good.

I am not a Chad Johnson fan and I think most of his antics are stupid. However in this specific incident, I don't think he was trying to act up - I think the judge took offense to the court room laughing. I think the judge was wrong, MAYBE 3 days in jail, not 30 days.

I'm not a Chad Johnson fan, but with all the criminals that get arrested and are back on the street a few hours later, why don't they stop wasting tax dollars and put a dangerous person behind bars.

So domestic violence is not a dangerous crime? You may want to re-think your definition of a dangerous person.

He didn't get 30 days in jail for domestic violence. He got probation for that. He got 30 days for a butt slap. My point is there are far more dangerous people who get a lot less than 30 days for doing a lot more than a butt slap.

There are far less dangerous people doing a lot more time than 30 days...

I watched a 19 year old kid who was struggling with drug addiction get picked up on a VOP, judge sent him to prison for 1 year. First offense. First violation...

Also understand that just because he was seeing the judge for a violation of probation, does not mean a lot being its the domestic violence judge who has heard his case since day one. And part of completing your terms to fulfill all judges terms.
When he violated, he violated those terms and was in court for the same domestic violence charge. He knows it, he accepted that when he accepted the plea deal and agreed to those terms.

Im not saying this judge did not over react.. I am simply saying they do it all the time, and are within the law to do so.
Nobody cares until it happens to a celeb tho...

He got a big break in getting probation, showed his disregard for the agreement he entered into and disrespect for the system as he felt he was above the law (not showing up for his appointments with P.O.). So technically he did finally get 30 days for the domestic violence as probation is a certain amount of jail time held over your head to ensure you abide by the conditions of probation. He violated that each time he did not show up to see his P.O. The judge did not have to accept the plea agreement and handed out the appropriate sentence.

His actions in the courtroom were disrespectful to the judge and the system . It is a courtroom not a playground. He got exactly what he deserved.

Lets all celebrate. The streets are safer with Chad Johnson behind bars. I know I won't have to look over my shoulder if I stop at an ATM late at night, looking for Ocho Cinco.

I think the Judge just wants to see him grow up a little and start taking adulthood seriously. This guy's gonna be living out of a cardboard box soon

Well you are right there. His M.O. is to abuse women. This DV was not the first and he has violated his probation before. His next girlfriend is the one who should worry.
