I am thrilled that we were able to get a W even when we were statistically dominated. Thrilled that we have a QB that seems to have some "kill" in his blood. Thrilled to be 3-0. That said, there is already a lot of talk about some of the less pretty realities of our team; the pass protection, the running game, the lack of a pass rush today... but someone please tell me...

Where did Wallace go in our game plan today? Last week the game plan pushed him hard at the Colts; not just deep, but in slants, bubble screens, etc. He came up big. I understand the need to spread it around, but they didn't test deep once today, and didn't hardly try to work him in underneath. Quick slants might have negated the pass rush a little...

Next week we need to control the clock. Establishing a running game is going to be huge. But we have shown that we need to set up the run with the pass, not the other way around. Screens, draws and slants could help chew up the clock and keep Tannehill from getting clobbered all day.

I think we need to realize that the Dolphins have more than just one playmaker. Brandon Gibson, Brian Hartline and Charles Clay can make plays.

Mike Wallace will have his opportunities to make plays.

Mike Wallace is a career 3-4 catch a game guy.

Why do people expect him to be Brandon Marshall? 2 catches in a game isn't rare for Wallace, nor is it concerning.

This is the reason I felt queasy for most of pre-Free Agency with all the talk about him.

Wasn't he on the injury report as questionable with a groin problem? possibly he was out there to provide a threat, but served more as a decoy... at least with regards to the deep ball. Maybe they had him on the field to make the defense honor the possibility of a pass, but they had the shorter routes as the main uses for him today, so he didn't aggravate things more.

In my eyes, Wallace isn't going to have 100 yards and a touchdown every week. Look at Chicago last night they scored 40 points and Brandon Marshall only had 52 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

It is nice to know that teams will now watch game film and know they have to plan to stop multiple weapons and not just plan for Wallace. Monday night against New Orleans, Wallace could break out with 200 yards and 3 TD's who knows.....

The falcons definitely dominated time of pos, but everything else was respectable. It wasn't like they doubled our yardage or anything as lopsided as that.

Risky move on Sherman's part to not get your biggest playmaker more involved. If we'd lost we'd probably be hearing the complaints. I would have liked to have seen one or two more deep attempts made to him. I think there was one deep pass.

I think this team finally has weapons all over the place on offense. Rishard Matthews even stepped up big yesterday on the last drive, and rookie TE Sims had an impressive one handed catch in the end zone. Tannehill can throw to anyone in this offense and we're moving the chains.

This is the problem with these prima donna receivers. We win & lose as a team. We went thru this with Brandon Marshall & we were right to trade him. I know Wallace will be sounding off because of his lack of touches. I am at the point to say we can win with him or without him. This season seems to be a team effort & if Wallace starts to pout it needs to be dealt with. I have no doubt he will get his touches but to start forcing the ball to him to keep him happy would be wrong. We are a true super bowl contender this season ... no need for distractions that may have us implode from the inside.

Yeah, deal with him by throwing the ball more to him a little more. Wallace is not a Brandon Marshall that wants all the balls, but he needs to feel important and productive.

Right now everyone of our receivers can have a star by their stat sheet by saying that Wallace took the double-teams and the other team's best cornerback off of them.

yes Dave, it is nice when the other guys take advantage of their opportunities when Tanny/Sherman calls their number.

Wallace definitely takes away a top defender and usually a safety cheating over the top his way too.

He had 2 passes broken up by the DB covering him. Thats not on anyone but him.

He was targeted 5 times, came down with 2 catches.

Hartline was targeted 6 times, caught 4
Gibson was targeted 8 times, caught 6

Obviously the best DB was on Wallace, as will be the case all year.. We won, and I dont do fantasy so thats the only stat that matters

3-0 :awe:

Really? So passes broken up are only on the receiver? What about the fact that the throw right before half time was a half second late? If Tannehill released that on Wallace's break, it would have been a TD.

I'm more concerned with getting to the QB... where's that pass rush we saw in week 1?

That front 7 left a lot to be desired in weeks 2 and 3... we gotta hit Brees or we're gonna get torn apart.

Can't get there when Ryan is getting rid of it in 2-2.5 seconds. Especially without Wake.

That said, in the 2nd half, especially in critical moments, I thought the pass rush was just fine.

The Defense gave up a TD off the turnover to start the 2nd half....After that, they gave up 3 points in 27+ game minutes. That's darn good against that offense.

Mike Wallace hasn't said anything other than the Donnie Jones forced fumble was the play of the game, and yet some in this thread are commenting as if he was complaining again.

He had 5 targets, Hartline had 6, Gibson had 8.. We were running a lot of quick screens to the RB's because of the poor line, Clay, Egnew, Sims all got involved. Looks like we spread the ball evenly.

We won... Which is why we play.. Stats are for fantasy, people complaining probably started Wallace on the fantasy team..

Pretty sure he was questionable right up till game time.. could be he just was not getting open.. I didn't see RT miss many open wr'ers yesterday..

we also have a QB thats getting creamed and not getting through all his reads..

ya it was not our best game.. but we just put it too a team that many picked to be in the Big game at the end of the season.. and we did it without playing at the top of our game.. with some key players on the bench...

were 3-0 we played 2 very good teams .to get o 3-0

I don't think I remember how to be 3-0 lol

You're having a different conversation. I'm focusing on the comment you made about passes defensed being on Wallace. At least one of those was on Tannehill getting rid of the ball a half second late.

I do not want the coaches or QB to try to force feed the ball to Mike the way Brandon Marshall was, I only want to make sure we're not missing out on opportunities to get some chunk yards. Take a couple shots long and get him involved on some quick slants. I love the way RT spreads the ball around, and by the way, all the Gibson doubters should be feeling better about him now. That last drive, and for nearly all the game, he was CLUTCH.

Could be, I have not watched the game over on replay yet..

I guess if it makes people feel better, sure its Tannehill's fault Wallace did not have more catches..

He did however happen to connect with 8 other players, and led the team to victory.. I just have a hard time accepting that Wallace's low numbers are all on the QB or OC. I watched Wallace getting shadowed all day yesterday, no seperation in the short game.
He can get a half step on a deep route, but by the time the play is there the DE has killed RT.. He needs to work on his inside routes, create more space..

Still having a different conversation as I did not say that.

Again I was replying to your specific comment where you said passes defensed were on Wallace... puzzling that you came to this determination without actually watching the game.

I was at the game, watched Wallce get blanketed all day by 1 DB.. The tv camera doesnt follow him, it follows the ball. Hard to see it on TV..

I said I have not watched the "replay" so I will have to really analyze those passes that the db slapped out of his hands and jumped over him to knock away to see if I agree with your opinion..

However I will tell you in advance, I probably wont. I will probably just tell you big time players make big time plays.. He was targeted, he was part of the game plan, he did not step up to the plate..

That is my 2 cents on the subject.. get over it, the world is not viewed through your eyes

You're the one that began having a different conversation and putting words in my mouth because I pointed out that in one specific case, the pass defensed wasn't Wallace's fault.

I'll try agreeing with everything you say going forward so as to not offend your sensibilities.

I always thought this place would get boring once we started winning again. I mean there would be nothing to disagree on. I am so glad I was wrong.

Apparently disagreeing with you causes you to respond to and paraphrase things that were never said or discussed.

I've never seen that have such a drastic affect on someone's nervous system.

I said he had 2 passes broken up, thats on him

You said he did not, that one pass was a half a second late (not sure if you use your stopwatch for that or not)

I responded that we really spread the ball around, and that stats are really pointless when you win. (This is where I basically agree to disagree and wanted to move on as it doesnt matter)

You reaponded that I was ducking your observations.

I responded that I have to watch the replay in order to better ascertain how that one play went down.

We should syncronize swatches now in order for pin poin accuracy on your half second evaluation..

And if you havent figured it out yet, I dont care, I am actually just being a wise arse. Like I said originally, we won, stats are for fantasy..

But I will hold you to that last statement of agreeing with everything I say

wallace had a safety over the top everytime i noticed on tv.....

the pass rush didn't get any sacks but the pressure caused quite a few errant throws including the int that sealed the game....the rookie!

didn't the draft class have a good day yesterday..hopefully the corners get going too

sooooooooooo, Wallace did tweet yesterday;

3-0, #PHINSUP and then the little Dolphin picture thing that people do on Twitter.

He's fine, he'll get his catches.
