Post Report: Dolphins extend Jeff Ireland’s contract
Quote:
The Dolphins are 3-0 for the first time in more than a decade, so they’re apparently confident in the future.

According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, the team has extended General Manager Jeff Ireland’s contract.

I saw this on the Herald earlier. The way they word it, he was extended this off season..

Quote:
But in reality, any doubt about Ireland’s job security was erased in the offseason, when the Dolphins quietly extended his contract, a league source tells The Miami Herald.

He was just spending Ross's money and figured he would take a few bucks too lmao

With all that reckless and desperate behavior???

I've been saying for a year I didn't think his job was in jeopardy. All the rumors were coming from fans and media without even an anonymous source behind them.

Isn't it amazing what a competent QB will do?

This is good news. His job is a thankless one as a lot of people think a GM has to hit on just about everything or get thrown under the bus.

In Jeff's case, I really like what he has done with the Dolphins. My wife and have met and talked with him a few times. Seems like a good guy too.

Yeah, but if this team goes the way of Arizona last season (started 4-0, ended at 5-11) then you can bet that the seat under Ireland will be pretty hot again.

Like some of us has been saying all along, you can't keep firing GMs and coaches, you need consistency and it finally looks like we have some.

I have heard that on a few occasions from different people who have met him. Even ones who have run into him outside of the job, which is rare, but happens. Seems to be a nice guy and treats fans very well.

I have 3 responses for this:

1) He was smiling because he feared for his life!!

2) Do you even lift, bro?

3) Put down the dumbbell, Dwayne Johnson.

All the experts and haters (*cough Silva*) that said things like "Just because you spend a lot of money doesn't mean you"ll be good" can suck it. Get off our team and jump on the Bucs. & for that matter, say something about SF's wasted offseason

The dumbest thing Ireland could've done this offseason was not spend the money to get more & better players. He did his job, brought in talent, and made his team competitive. He should be paid for that. Part of that check should could go to buying us each a new jersey tho, cuz I aint buying one still

I know its only 3 wins, but it was 3 realy good wins and they looked good doing it.

Rock Sexton, what will it take for you to remove your Ireland acorn signature? 9 wins? 10 wins? Playoffs? AFC East Championship? Playoff win?

Not a slam, just curious.

10acejed, I can only attest to the times I have met him, but I can tell you first hand, he went out of his way to have a discussion vs the type of conversation where he felt compelled to talk because I was a fan.

I complemented him on the addition of the new players and he started telling me how he wanted to add more overall team speed to basically gang tackle to the ball with faster pursuit. He really emphasized game changing plays, playing disciplined football. I personally really liked his approach and he really was a down to earth good guy. I know he has to be ruthless and seemingly insensitive at times when making business decisions, but you can see he has a good side.

Ha! Ha! Funny PR, but I just try and stay in shape and fight the good fight! I am 48 now and not getting any younger so just trying to fight that father time as the years go on (hopefully)

Us finally making the playoffs consistently.

Honestly, it makes me laugh so it'll be hard to part with.

I like Jeff Ireland, but I have to say that picture is pretty darn funny and every time I see it!

I'll give you 20-1 odds to say that won't happen.
100-1 says it won't happen without season ending injuries to multiple starters.
