Here's another layer to that: The Dolphins were highly disappointed with the way Dion Jordan went about his work in his rookie season, a team source said. Discipline, committment, practice ethic - Jordan didn't impress the coaching staff with any of those his rookie year. That was obvious by the limited role he played despite being the third-overall pick.

Or they were highly disappointed in the pick to begin with and are now setting the propaganda stage to move him.

Which would be utterly stupid considering the cap ramifications.

I say let him play since he has such a high cap nothing, it's the only option.

I agree. Play the guy. Upside and Potential are there. Trade him and he will be aa star elsewhere. Im beginning to think trashing this guy is only to dis credit Ireland.

Dolphins fans should know by now not to hitch their ride to those two words.

Part-time player in college. Was injured when we got him. Apparently not committed like the FO would like.

Based on what?

Because of one source? Didn't we just shake up the FO a couple of months ago?

I don't understand what purpose it serves for someone in Miami to leak this information unless it is Olivier Vernon's agent preemptively greasing the skids for his client's extension.

Atlanta is the perfect example of a team willing to be aggressive to get their guy (Julio Jones trade). If Miami wants to part with Jordan wouldn't it make great sense to stay quiet and then ask Atlanta if they would give up the 6th pick for him? Then it gets announced out of left field like the Brandon Marshall deal two years ago.

You get the 6th pick and suddenly guys like Jake Matthews, Sammy Watkins or a team looking to jump Minnesota for a QB are all in play.

Something doesn't add up here unless Miami's FO is so clueless that they think other teams are incapable of spreading information exchanged behind closed doors.

At this point, I don't really trust ANYTHING that comes from this front office. NOTHING.

The fact of the matter is that the team traded up to get Dion at #3. It would be in the best interest of Kevin Coyle to try to figure out the best way to get Jordan on the field and use his ability.

Philbin had to sit him to prove that it was a bad draft choice by Ireland, now Dion can explode and Joe can say it was all on his coaches developing him...

Leak a trade and then leak his work ethic sucks. Sounds about right regarding the Fins.

I would imagine that all three are on the shopping block at this point. Never really felt that Jordan was a Philbin move, and honestly never liked trading up for a DE based on our needs.

Now we are deep, which is a great thing. A team with a lethal pass rush will have a great defense. Problem is we were weak on offense before, and now it is worse. If they can net some extra picks by moving a DE I would not be mad.

Let's say this one more time...

Dion Jordan is not going anywhere. Trading him would immediately cost us another $12 million in cap room.

That is more than one third of our available cap space.

So... why is this even being discussed?

Cool, let's talk about the possibility of acquiring Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson, then.

There are plenty of things to talk about that are more within the realm of reality such as:

- Resigning Paul Soliai
- Acquiring Eugene Monroe
- Acquiring Jarius Byrd
- Resigning Nolan Carroll
- The Draft
- Other Free agents

Heck... even the possibility of Jonathan Martin playing for the Dolphins again is greater than Dion Jordan being traded...

Wow, a simple solution is don't reply if you don't care to discuss. Hey, AP might be available in a trade, I've heard that rumor.

Cool, thanks for the advice that wasn't asked for.

Sorry about that Rich, I was confused since you gave advice regarding what and what shouldn't be discussed on a Dolphins forum. My bad...I'll move along.

Soooo I guess my question is if the cap hit is so severe, why put a rumor out about a trade? A rumor about him being lazy? Why not just let him play and sink or swim?

If you followed the context of my posts, you'd see that my point was that Jordan getting traded isn't going to happen unless the Dolphins are willing to take a massive cap hit...

It was rhetorical.

Where does it say that the Dolphins put out the rumor about him being traded?

How so? We got weaker after adding Mike Wallace, and Charles Clay having a break out season? There is no indications that I see that has the arrow pointing down for the offense.

Depends really how you break it out. We were ranked 27th in 2012 for points scored (288) and 26th in 2013 (317)

While adding Wallace helped as well as RT taking a step forward, our passing game did get better. However, we had 1802 yard rushing in 2012, avg of 4.1 and 15 TD's.
2013 we dropped to 1440 while maintaining the 4.1 avg, yet only 8 TD's.

Now add in the sacks (35 in 2012 vs 58 in 2013), hurries and pressures. And obviously just remember how bad our o-line was and I would say we are not any better than 2012 on offense, really seems worse to me. Or at the best traded one for the other and stayed the same.

The defense took the exact same steps backwards as well, allowed 317 points in 2012, and 335 in 2013 dropping from the 7th to 8th spot overall.

I maintain my same feeling as last year, we are able to hold teams to reasonable scoring on defense. We need to figure out how to score on offense.

And it pertains to the topic because it is the exact reason I was not happy with the Dion pick last year. Nothing against him, I imagine he can be great. Just for the position this team was in, and is in, I feel they need to address the offense. Mainly the oline that has been an issue for a couple years now.

The defense was very disappointing, they got thrashed in key moments and didn't create many big plays other than the one against the bengals. That's why I went defense in my draft and hope we plug holes on offense in free agency
