I don't get it. You have the 4th most cap room in the league, an amount you can't possibly spend…

You can cut Patterson in camp and still save that cap room for a rollover in 2015. You'd have extra depth, competition, and starting options in Camp with him.

I just don't see the point in cutting him now. They don't need the cap room and they lack depth at CB badly.

What it probably means is they've come to terms with a CB in Free Agency that they like a lot and figured Patterson won't have a legitimate shot at a starting job anyway.

Maybe he comes back for less money. We'll see.

Patterson was welcomed back at a cheaper rate.

He killed it on the field when he wasn't sidelined though...I loved that pick he had off Brady, he was the definition of a play maker when healthy.

I agree with this. Patterson played well when healthy, but it hard to justify paying him that type of money when he been on the field for 4-6 games in 2 seasons.

As in they offered him a cheaper contract? Where did you read that?

We release him out of respect instead of hanging on to him throughout camp. Classy by the Fins IMO. Sign him for cheap and let's move on.

So is Jamar Taylor the favorite to start?

Dolphins expect “better dividends” from Jamar Taylor in 2014...........

Scary thought

Maybe not revis, but perhaps darren mcfadden? We went a year without a top 5 darft choice in the backfield and it didnt work so well.

Sounds like the Bucs are looking to trade Revis and will cut him if they can't find a trade partner.

Grimes and Revis would be a formidable pair of corners, to say the least.

So which 4 games would you like to play him in? Because that's about all you can expect...

Guys, we're not going to spend that kind of $$ for Revis, and we shouldn't. Granted, he's one of the best , but he was a complete headache off the field for the Jets, wanting new contracts to the ones he previously signed.

If Patterson can pass his physical, you may see him back, if not look for us to sign another veteran around the league minimum. We did draft Taylor (2nd) & Will Davis (3rd). The real hope and expectations are with Taylor He was initially projected to go in the first round, but a kidney disorder was detected at the combine. He then had to go for a hernia surgery after the Dolphins drafted him and was limited to what post surgery medication he could take, due to his kidneys.

I hope Patterson does come back cheaper...that would be great, because he did show the potential to be a scary target. I'm really glad we didn't re-sign Soliai for that kinda money even though he was a good player for us.

Vontae looks to be re-signing with the Colts as of right now. THANKFULLY we didn't re-sign Nolan Carroll. Still lots of names on the board...but we may just go with CB in the draft to compete for a spot.

How much did Nolan Carroll get paid? He was playing on his rookie contract as a late round pick. Doesn't get cheaper than that.

I'm talkin about for the coming year. Carroll wants to get paid starting CB money.

And Randy Starks wanted to get $8 mil a year.

It's whatever the market dictates and I am sure Carroll's price will come down.

Bill Polian rated 37 free agent cornerbacks better, and gave him the grade of D.

We have our No. 2 corner, it's Jamar Taylor........this guy's a freak...........Runs a 4.39-40 and benches 225, 22 times. I hope he's spending a lot of time with Grimes this off-season.........I think he's going to be very special.

A couple of highlight vids.

Jamar was a very good CB coming out of Boise State, but the NFL is a different animal and he has to come in and not only stay healthy, but PROVE that he can play at this level.

Give the Kid some slack...........within the last 12 months, he discovered his kidneys were failing, then underwent hernia surgery and couldn't take post op anti-inflammatory medication due to the kidneys. In addition to going through the trials of a Rookie, he was forced to undergo treatments and rehabilitation to keep himself alive.

I think it's fair to say, we didn't see anything close to his best last year........plus working with Rookies isn't Coyle's specialty.

Not denying we didn't see him at full capacity for the whole season, but I still don't understand where you get "special" from already.

He could turn into a very good corner for us. It took Madison and Surtain a year before they saw the field.

Based on what though? That's my question? Combine measureables?

No idea what he is basing it on. Combine measureables, gut feeling, a dream he had or maybe he is a professional scout in disguise. He'd have to answer that question.

Regardless, his opinion could very well turn out to be right. Too early to tell either way.

One could think if Hickey and or Philbin didn't like him they would have done somethin about it. I wonder if Sturgis will come out of the gate strong like last year, but stay that way. He was clutch until he missed that 57 yarder against Baltimore. Then he was anything but.
