Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP Finnegan deal is reportedly for 2 years. I'm sure only the 1st year would be guaranteed, assuming he makes roster.ReplyRetweetFavorite3m

I feel like we have midgets for our starting DB lineup. LOL

Grimes does play well considering his size though.

Willing to bet most starting CBs in the NFl are in the 5'10-5'11 range.

Sooo.... The Miami Dolphins Starting Defense for 2014 looks as follows..

CB- Finnegan, Grimes
S- Jones, Delmas
LB- Wheeler, Ellerbe, Misi
DL- Wake, Odrick, Starks, Jordan/Vernon

Wow okay, so does that mean that Wheeler becomes the default "softest" on the D?

Your running through the gauntlet while playing Miami this year. They are gonna hit HARD!!

I highly doubt the intent is to hand Finnegan the job opposite Grimes.

He is going to have to compete with Jamar Taylor and maybe Will Davis.

And given that Finnegan has been pretty bad the past two years, there is no guarantee he will be a starter.

Haha yea, Rich, I know I was jumping the gun there. And the Vernon/Jordan/Shelby situation.... and whats the deal at LB....

Too many variables.... thats obvious...

But Grimes is a tough sonofab, Finnegan maybe peskier, Delmas is like a wrecking ball, and we all know Jones hits like a hammer. That front line is definitely a pack of rabid dogs....

My comment was basically to say who is the "softest" on that D.... its starting to look pretty gawd darn ferocious! not gonna even grade it good/bad/top whatever yet, but definitely gonna leave teams with some injuries... i mean seriously, there are gonna be ALOT of head hunters on this D....

Whatever his name in New Orleans with Bountygate would be drooling right about now..

One of these guys will start at corner and one will probably land the nickel package start as well.

He's horrific. 2nd worst corner in 2013.

But he did play in only 7 games, had a thigh injury and then a fractured orbital bone.

haha Finnegan in the nickel..... I WANT TO SEE THAT!!! darn, wish welker was still in the division. He'd get LAID OUT at least once, and i would have a gushing boner over it! haha

Oh well, I'll settle for Finnegan laying him out in Denver this year..... (and blowing two coverages for touchdowns too)

So he can barely get any worse lol I'm positive he'll return at least close to the player he was before & play opposite of Grimes.

If we get a run stopping line backer then this D would be a force to be reckoned with

Great signing. Look at the AFC. Besides Denver it is weak. We just need to gear up for that AFC championship game vs. them. As Seattle proved in the Super Bowl ... on any given Sunday.

The man lined up on the right side for six seasons in Tennessee and was elite. Then the Rams move him over to the left side, he had one solid season, and one horrific season. Grimes plays the left side which will allow Finnegan to move back to his natural position. This is a great fit in my opinion. Love this deal.

Nice interview. Very articulate, professional, and dare I say, humble (as much as a CB can afford to be)

Not very punk-like, right? The fact that he was so appreciative of having a good, hard nosed coach to keep him focused shows he understands.

Also consider that he negotiated his own contract.

"I wanna run into somebody wearing the opposite"

LLLLove that.

I think shorter corners are better anyway. Even though ideally you want height out there, those long guys aren't as athletic and quick twitch.

Sherman and Browner were pretty formidable.

Been awhile since the Pats had a secondary. I thought Browner was suspended? I think he & Finnegan have mileage left in their tanks. Anyway , this will make the coming of age party even better for RT as he picks them apart.

based on what I've read about both of them. Their play has trended down.
And I also know 2 Seattle fans and they said he's been more name than substance lately.

The Pats have done some good signing this offseason. They are acknowledging what we are doing. I really hope our guys can pull through this year..that way all the people saying to hell with Philbin and our coaching staff and that with them it would be impossible to win can shut up.

& by that I mean, I hope he wins you over with his great play because that'd be a win-win

Browner's game has dropped off since he's been busted for PEDs.
