The Jets traded Leon Washington to Seattle and will release Alan Faneca next week. I have also read that Bryan Thomas and Shaun Ellis may be released as well. Most reports were that Faneca play had really dropped. Jets paid big money for an older OG and paid the price.

I know Washington is coming off an injury, but I am certainly glad to see him gone. Joe McKnight is a nice RB, but he is not as explosive as Leon and Washington was also a factor in the return game for the Jets as well.

I'm right with you on that one, Tony. If there ever was a back who was a thorn in our side it was Washington. So, they've let their two best backs go ... no pressure on Sanchez;)

Wow New York is going crazy. Miami on the other hand is taking the completely un-sexy rout. Let the Jets get their flare & we'll own them in the trenches, just like we did last year.

I think its dumb they're dropping Faneca but it could be a money move more then anything. Washington was one of those players that you just can't game plan for. Love what the Seahawks are doing right now

Very happy to see Washington gone from the Jets. The dude was a major pain in the neck for the fins. Seattle is looking pretty good on paper so far.

Why? Those two guys were pretty solid I thought.

I have no clue what the Jets thinking is in regards to those possible moves. Vernon Gholston has been such a bust, I would have thought they would have been ready to release him.

I'm starting to wonder about all these moves by the Jets...lots of personal coming and going..

Beginning to think the boat over there is getting rocked a little too much considering that they were in the AFC championship game last season..

I hope they fall right on their face next year!!

I agree! NY is way jumping the gun because they made this improbable run to the AFC title game. They think they are close but they are not. They are in no better situation than the Dolphins were in after our great run in 2008. The difference is Miami was realistic and has been trying to build this team for the future. My honest prediction is that the Jets are going to go 5-11 or 6-10 this year. I think they are older, less talented on the whole, and will not be as fortunate again schedule wise.

Gonna be interesting to see how the Jets will fare this year. They certainly kept things interesting this off season. Actually I thought their draft was decent but its hard to predict these things. same goes for us , lotsa safe picks although I must admit some guys I never even heard of & to rely on a highilte reel is crazy.
Like I said in the chat room (& I asked not to be killed for this) whoever runs the NE draft is my MVP. Great picks IMO while still adding more picks for next year. They know how to work this thing ... they think a year & 2 ahead.

Catman.....I hate the Jets, but that is wishful thinking that they fall to a 5-11 record this upcoming season. They are a tough team, well coached and on the rise. They are hardly an old team as well. Miami winning the AFC East, which I hope they do, will be very hard earned in what I believe is now the toughest conference in all the NFL.

I say good riddance to Leon Washington. What a pest he has been to Miami over the years!

I do agree that the AFC east is very strong. However, the falls usually come hard. It seems every year teams go from playoffs to high picks in the following years draft. The Jets were the beneficiaries of some very fortunate events last year. They have actually REGRESSED at RB and DB. And they have some potentially cancerous personalities in that locker room.

Miami's biggest competition is still going to be New England.

Rex Ryan is going to be a defensive coordinator again in 3 years!

We will see about that. Green is not nearly as explosive as Washington and he definitely caused problems on 3rd down in the pass game. On top of that, Leon was a top flight PR/KR guy.

You let go a 1400 yard rusher and one of your more explosive players during this off season. Joe McKnight is a nice player, but he is not Washington. We will see what Greene and Tomlinson do for the Jets this year.

Well in our perspective it would be like Hilliard coming in for Ronnie and having a great 4 - 5 games to close out the season, then the fins letting both Ricky & Ronnie go in the hopes that Hilliard can fill there shoes, and bring in LT for good measure...

Think of it that way....

I think the Jets are still busy sitting around polishing their Pre-Season Championship Trophy from last year. They spent all of this money making "big moves", but wind up having to release several key players in order to sign all of their rookies. It will be funny when we beat them twice again this year and knock them out of the playoffs.
