Post ggippo 3 Round Mock Draft Analysis and Depth Chart
Hi guys I was bored hope you like.

With the recent addition of Knowshon Moreno the Dolphins now have the ability to aggressively attack the holes on the Offensive Line and fill a need at Inside Linebacker in the first three rounds of the draft.

Round One:

Most mock drafts have the Dolphins picking Tackle Zack Martin in the first round. Martin is regarded as the fourth best lineman in the draft and the last of the top tier. If Martin is gone the Dolphins could trade down or reach for Guard Xavier Su'a-Filo ranked best of the second tier Offensive Lineman. They could also fill a need at Inside Linebacker with CJ Mosely from Alabama. If big Receivers Mike Evans or Eric Ebron drop they would be a steal.

1. Tackle Zack Martin - Compares to Logan Mankins
2. Receiver Mike Evans - Compares to Vincent Jackson
3. Linebacker CJ Mosely - Compares to Lavonte David
4. Tight End Eric Ebron - Compares to Vernon Davis
5. Guard Xavier Su'a Filo
6. Cornerback Justin Gilbert - Compares to Terrance Newman

Round Two:

If the Dolphins draft an Offensive Lineman in the first round the position is still a target in the second round and they will probably have a shot at players from the back end of the second tier. With the depth at Wide Receiver it is certainly tempting to grab a really good one here.

1. Tackle Morgan Moses - Compares to Ryan Clady
2. Guard Gabe Jackson - Compares to Larry Warford
3. Tackle Antonio Richardson - Compares to Erick Williams
4. Receiver Davante Adams - Compares to James Jones
5. Receiver Donte Moncrief
6. Receiver Jarvis Landry - Compares to Eric Decker

Round Three:

There has been some talk of Koa Misi moving to Middle Linebacker where he was originally projected by some coming of out of Utah. The Dolphins will probably have an excellent opportunity in the third round however to draft a Middle Linebacker if they are targeting one. The Cornerback position is deep in this draft the Phins could still draft a back end second tier player to add some better depth at the position.

1. Linebacker Chris Borland - Compares to Zach Thomas
2. Linebacker Yawin Smallwood - Compares to Jerod Meyo
3. Linebacker Shayne Skov - Compares to David Harris
4. Cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste - Compares to Brandon Browner
5. Cornerback Keith McGill - Compares to Trumaine Johnson
6. Cornerback Chris Davis - Compares to Kareem Jackson

I agree. The Dolphins want either Zach Martin or Taylor Lewan (if he falls). Unfortunately several of the "experts" are thinking that neither will be there at #19. That would be very disappointing.

Here are Mel Kiper's thoughts on offensive tackles in the first couple of rounds:

Barry Jackson wrote:
ESPN’s Mel Kiper projects Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio and Tennessee’s Antonio Richardson to go in the late 20s, and Virginia’s Morgan Moses in the 40s. Stanford’s Cameron Fleming could be an option with Miami’s third-round pick at No. 81, and Miami has expressed interest. Ohio State’s Jack Mewhort might be, too.

And the Dolphins this week will audition and dine with UM’s Seantrel Henderson, a potential third-round right-tackle option who couldn’t finish UM’s Pro Day on Thursday because of dehydration.

In a draft where there are a ton of right tackle prospects I don't think Miami will be sweating if both of those guys are off of the board.

I'd still guess they are hoping Mosely falls to them because A. he fills a huge need and B. is probably BPA at the 19th pick (yes I understand conventional wisdom says you don't take a non pass rushing linebacker in the first round).

I keep seeing people talk safety as well (poor play of Clemons, 1 year deal for Delmas). And yes, I understand that people think safeties can be grabbed later in the draft. However, when Hickey was with the Bucs they weren't shy about adding a safety early.

Holy crap it's a blast from the past! What's up ggippo? How ya been bud?

Nice draft analysis - I like seeing all the options per round as opposed to just who they should draft. Gives those of us who know very little about these guys a chance to get to know the name.

Awesome!

I don't understand this thought. Why target a safety when we are set THIS year? This team has many other positions higher on the priority list than safety. Why no target one next year if Delmas disappoints, and go for the OT/LB/WR positions that we will need even more so this year. I'd be livid if we draft Pryor, and I don't see Hickey targeting him.

Every mock that I see seems to have either Zach Martin or CJ Mosely available to us. I don't think I've seen one where they were both taken. Evans and Ebron are usually off the board before #19, with Evans usually a top 10 pick.

Well the good news is the Phins aren't so desperate at any position where they would have to reach for a player. But it would be nice to see an offensive lineman in the first two rounds with the quality depth available.

I wish all these other "experts" understood that. Hell everybodys got the same weak butt 1st round pick like darn do they not realize that we can get a rt in the 2nd?

Hey George. Always good to see you adding your thought and knowledge to the boards. C.J Mosely is my pick in the 1st round, and I believe the Dolphins will take that ORT in the 2nd round.

I have seen a few mocks having the Dolphins taking Xavier Su'a Filo, the OG from UCLA at #19.

IF your NFL comparisons even come close to coming to fruition for these draft picks this would be an all-time draft.

Haha well they aren't my comparisons but they are really used to help provide a better picture of the players build and style of play.
