Post Sharper to Visit Jags, then possibly Dolphins
Quote:
Free agent Darren Sharper is visiting the Jaguars on Wednesday, according to a league source, with more visits to other teams likely following.

Interest in the Pro Bowl safety has increased post-draft, and, despite recovering from an offseason knee surgery, he has begun making visits.

In addition to Jacksonville, Miami and Dallas are possibilities as well. However, at this point, Sharper doesn't have a visit scheduled with the Cowboys, according to a team source. The Redskins could also use a free safety, with LaRon Landry playing more on the strong side now.

The Saints still remain interested in re-signing the safety and have been in contact with his agent throughout the offseason.

I can't see a scenario playing out in which Sharper is not wearing black and gold next season. I think he ends up resigning with NO.

The thread title is a little misleading

the guy is older, yet he had one of his best seasons last year. he would definitely help out this club even if it's for a year or two. bring him in baby!

I have a feeling that the Saints have told him they'll try to match anyone's best offer.

So he's looking for the best offer he can find to take back to the Saints. So goes Sharper, so goes the Saints.

That defense is CB driven. I have a feeling the Saints will be willing to let him walk in the near future. They aren't gonna play his game forever

I kinda remember a lot of people on this board saying the same about Jason Taylor and not wearing aqua and orange next season...

I think it's a long shot that either we get him or he leaves N.O

I don't. I car pool with a bunch of Saints fans and the rumblings around here are that the Saints will move Malcolm Jenkins to Safety and let Sharper go if he doesn't agree to their 2.5 million, 1 year offer.

I still don't think that the Dolphins will go after him though. I know that we need safety help, but it just goes against the whole youth movement thing. The only way I could see them bring him in is as a mentor to the younger safeties.

I think we need to pass. He'll likely be too expensive and he's only a temporary stop gap. We're trying to build through the draft. We've already got two solid prospects who can step up and start in Chris Clemons and Reshad Jones, so I don't see a need for Sharper.

1) No such thing as too expensive in an uncapped year. Give him a 1 year deal loaded with incnetives.

2) A stop gap is exactly what we need. As we hope Jones or Clemons get more seasoning. Both are very young

NFLN filed a report last night saying Sharper was visiting the Fins next. Armando this morning said nope, not happening and the NFLN report was wrong
