Post ASK DAVE HYDE: Is the Wildcat dead?

The question boils down to whether you to take Brandon Marshall out of play. And I think it's pretty obvious that you don't. To keep him a prime weapon, you need Chad Henne on the field and that means that the Wildcat probably will be severely scaled back this year and perhaps eliminated. We'll have to see how it plays out in training camp -- and if Pat White has put on 20 pounds and developed into the running/passing hybrid that was hoped out a year ago when all of us were talking up the Wildcat. But I think the Wildcat has seen its most useful days.

To me, this is zero chance that it is eliminated. I still think that we will see a good 5-8 plays out of it per game.

Agreed. The Wildcat is Miami's identity, and why get rid of it if it works?

Get rid of it? No. It works if we have the right personnel on the field. Rely on it? No. We showed that we can play football without it.

I think we scale it back to just a few plays a game, but it's Parcell's pet project. He thinks it can work.

It stopped working when teams began blitzing their corners against it.
