Lex Hilliard: Hilliard is a bruiser. Much like Parcells found in Dallas with Marion Barber. He is an up-field runner and at times last year showed fans glimpses of what he could do. Reps is what is lacking for Hilliard and he will get plenty of those in pre-season this year.

If, and it’s a big big “IF”, Ronnie Brown should find himself traded, don’t be surprised if Hilliard doesn’t become the primary back in Miami’s base offense. He has the potential to be that good. What he shows this year will go a long way in determining what the Dolphins do next year should they lose both of their top two guys.

Hilliard should see plenty of action this season as the Dolphins will likely monitor the play of Brown and Cobbs to prevent over working the injuries.

I am a big fan of Lex Hillard but this would be a downright scary scenario at this point!

I think the end of last season proved who the main back would be if Ronnie was gone....

Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that Lex would be a better option than Ricky, and without Ronnie, Ricky is not signing his post it note extension this year...

Thats just how I see it, Miami keeps Ronnie and gets another season from Ricky in 2011 or they let both go and start working on who will replace them... IMO, Hilliard is a downgrade over both of them. Cobbs could possibly be that guy, but we would have to see how he recovers from his injury first....

Lex Hilliard will see some reps in case Ronnie or Ricky get injured... otherwise I doubt we use him too much.

BTW... What's the status on Patrick Cobbs?

Officially its a ?. However he was on a call in interview with 790 a few weeks ago, him camarillo and a couple others. He said he is ahead of schedule and plans to be ready for pre season, however he could not comment on how much Sparano would use him at that point.
Remember he (Sparano) didnt have Camarillo doing alot last year during OTA's and Pre season, he let him get out and gradually work his way back into the offense...

Being we are stacked up at RB I expect the same from Cobbs, however he should be the # 3 guy come Sept...

Cobss can't be the go to guy IMHO. I don't see him being anymore than a 2nd or 3rd choice at the position.

Patrick Cobbs is not a #1 RB, and now that he is coming off a torn ACL you just hope he is ready to contribute and be full speed when the season starts.

Lex Hilliard is a solid back, but he is not starting for any team.

I don't know about his durability, but the NFL today is a two back system. From what I saw last season, he can be the go to guy.

These pointless, very out-there articles are starting a little early this summer I guess...joy.

You know, he ripped off a couple nice runs, but I do not remember him doing anything that outstanding as far as being a dependable back. In fact, most "draft experts" predicted that we would draft another back high in the draft if we were going to trade Ronnie (or be without him), so, noone else felt that Hilliard was worthy of taking the torch of splitting carries with Ricky. I looked up his stats and they support that. I think the Dolphins draft a running back high in the draft next year.

Yep. You'll notice that most of the threads we are discussing are from the Miami Dolphins media. Really, at this point of the season, their guesses are as good as ours.

The old guy that wore down after like 3 starts?

I doubt it.

I'm confused as to why people keep saying he wore down. Miami fell behind big very early in all of their final games...they had no choice but to throw the ball. 300+ yards for Henne gave Ricky no opportunity to pound the football. He numbers dropped, but not because he "wore down"

Before they get too carried away with the trade Ronnie Brown talk, why don't writers look at the W's and L's? When Miami lost Ronnie last year the season went down hill. As much as the WC is a token offense, it is a change of pace Miami needed to win some games. If they trade him, let's hope plan B isn't Lex Hilliard, an untested 2nd year player.

It did? As I pointed out in another thread, Miami won 3 games with Brown, and won 3 games without him. The Bucs game was the other win for Miami, and that was the game he got hurt.
3-5 with him, 3-4 without him. 1-0 in when he played half the game.
