 ESPN's 30 for 30: Run Ricky Run
Sounds like a great show....30 for 30 is a terrific segment that I highly recommend. One of ESPN's great works.... Quote: Run Ricky Run (Sean Pamphilon) – April 27, 8 p.m. Ricky Williams does not conform to America’s definition of the modern athlete. In 2004, with rumors of another positive marijuana test looming, the Miami Dolphins running back traded adulation and a mansion in South Florida for anonymity and a $7 a night tent in Australia. His decision created a media frenzy that dismantled his reputation and branded him as America's Pothead. But while most in the media thought Williams was ruining his life by leaving football, Ricky thought he was saving it. Through personal footage recorded with Williams during his time away from football and beyond, filmmaker Sean Pamphilon takes a fresh look at a player who had become a media punching bag and has since redeemed himself as a father and a teammate. http://www.espnmediazone3.com/us/2010/0 ... announced/

I HAVE TO WAIT TILL APRIL??????
30/30 is an unbelieveable show (I loved the Canes one, but I thought that and the Len Bias episodes were the best) and I'd love to see some of what was going through Ricky's mind through his time "away." Cool beans.

Maybe we'll finally get to see Bill Parcells' highly anticipated 2nd interview since joining Miami!
Maybe we hear a little bit from Zach Thomas??

I think this will finally shut up the people that have branded him a pothead. He's one of my all time favorite Dolphins.

I love a good comeback story, and Ricky's story definitely qualifies as one. life isn't easy and everyone has to choose their own path, Ricky chose his own, and while most of us don't agree with many of his decisions, I for one have to admire the turnaround he's made in the last few years. I also feel like some of his health decisions i once questioned may now have helped him extend his career. The man owned up to his mistakes, paid for them, and has behaved like a model citizen since. I believe in second chances, and I love the fact that Ricky has been making the most of his. After those few seasons where we felt like he burned us, it sure is nice to see those giant legs clad in aqua and orange gaining positive yardage again. Run Ricky Run!!!

This will be an awesome show. The one about the U is my favorite. They pretty much wrote the rule book on unsportsmanlike conduct for modern day college football, but they sure were entertaining.

The one on the U was great, it will remain on my dvr forever. This one should be pretty interesting, I cant wait to see ricky lookin like a wook in australia. Wonder if there will be any talk about how he effected our team or if it will focus mostly on his life away from the sport.

Sure there was some shenanigans, and a lot of flashy crap, but what the U REALLY did was take a tiny (12k - 15k enrollment) private university and put together the greatest quarter-century in the history of collegiate football, and do it at the expense of some of the largest programs in the nation (Don't think so? Ohio State routinely carries a student body of over 100k; Florida is generally around 30-35k...Miami is miniscule compared to other BCS programs). They began to smash the 'big name' schools like Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska, etc., which didn't sit well with them. You see, they are the only ones who should be allowed to do that to others; it's their God-given right to never have to put up with it themselves.

Re: ESPN's 30 for 30: Run Ricky Run
I have enjoyed most of the 30 for 30 pieces from ESPN and look forward to seeing the piece on Ricky, as he is a unique personality. By no means is Ricky a bad guy, but he did obviously battle the demon known as Mary Jane.
The piece on Miami was hillarious and I did enjoy that one, even being an FSU fan.
Even though he did it to himself, the Len Bias story always breaks me up. Frosty was a spectacular player, probably one of the few players that possibly could have given Jordon a run for his money in the NBA. 6'8, 220 lbs, with hops and a very good jumper, Bias had it all. I was ILL when he went to Boston on the draft. I was in basic training at Fort Jackson with his cousin, Dwayne Champion in 1986 during the summer when the news broke of Len Bias death.

I'm sure this film will be just as great as the other ones in the series, I can't wait for it to come out

Pothead is not a factual term, but only something used to negatively describe someone. Ricky was using a drug not because it's "cool," but because he couldn't find another alternative for relieving his pain...whether that was emotional, social or physical pain that he felt. He has now found an alternative method for that with holistic medicine and therapy of other sorts. He's not a pothead.

Re: ESPN's 30 for 30: Run Ricky Run
Lol..I stand corrected on it not being a real word, but if you're going to use that definition then it is fine to assume he WAS a pothead, but my whole argument was that this show would lets people see he is no longer.

Re: ESPN's 30 for 30: Run Ricky Run
If he was a Patriot or a Jet than yes I can see him being labeled as a Pot Head. But since he is a Dolphin he is just a good guy who took a wrong turn , did not have his priorities straight , really did not quit , but now has become a real hero!!
