Post I am refusing to buy a football preview magazine
Every year around this time, I buy one of the football preview magazines for the upcoming NFL and college seasons. I read them cover to cover and refer back to them during the course of the season. This year every fracking magazine I find is picking the jets to win the East and/or the Super Bowl, Lindys, Sporting News, etc. And it is driving me crazy, I am just so flabbergasted how so many so called "experts" are picking this overrated team for big things. Trust me it does not bother me when they pick teams to win other than Miami, like New England or Buffalo back when they were good. But the friggin jets are so completely undeserving, they slid into the playoffs because the Colts and Bengals backed off and injuries tore us apart.

I want to go on record right now. I am far from a football expert but the jets will NOT win the division or make the playoffs this year! I guarantee it and I am putting my money where my mouth is.

Sorry guys but I just had to rant!

I'll back you on that man. The Jets got WORSE in the off season (don't feel like writing another 3 paragraph rant on why) and were not very good last season to begin with.

They won't win more than 8 games.

I think it's good they get so much of this undeserved credit. It's going to make it that much sweeter when they implode and miss the playoffs. How they think ridding themselves of their best back in favor of a guy who's declined each of the past few seasons will make them Super Bowl contenders is beyond me.

Yeah I was watching NFL Live yesterday and they had their Top 10 rankings.. Jets were 4th. Then they went into a segment on overrated teams and one of the guys said that the Jets shouldn't be in the top 10, while another defended it. At least there is one smart guy at ESPN.

When that one smart guy is Matt Millen, you know your network is a joke.

See it as a blessing, guys. We have some Dolphins that are running in Stealth mode right now.

On the NFL Network "32 in 32" the NFL fans voted Dolphins #18 in the league.

Now, every year my cousin says the Dolphins will win the Super Bowl.

I haven't believed it possible in all my years as a Dolphins fan until NOW. (Yes, even the Marino days weren't that good).

We are FAR above #18. I would say we're in the top 10 of the league. (this league is so competitive, that this is saying A LOT.

I believe the Jets are in the top 10 as well. But, they feel 'entitled' to the Super Bowl this year.

Remember last year when the Colts acted like they were entitled? Especially with how the Super Bowl started? Peyton seemed pissed off that the Saints were even trying to win HIS ring.

Jets will have that same attitude last year and it won't serve them well. It starts with Rex Ryan, who had a boob-fest last year when Ginn single handedly won the game for us.

I believe the Jets are good, and I'm sure the Dolphins players and staff do as well. But no one really has their sights set on us.

Stealth mode ON

Seriously, the only reason to buy one of those magazines is to read about the teams outside the AFC East. The internet has kept us all informed better than those magazines since they are usually put out before teams make their cuts.

As far as the Jets are concerned, the team finally bought into the system entering the playoffs. Still, we saw the same thing under Saban his first year and the Dolphins took a step backwards the next year. I think they've added too many personalities to that team. I don't buy that they'll win the division. The Patriots are the AFC East defending champions and Brady will be healthier. I am more worried about them than the Jets.

I buy the rags for one reason....fantasy football. I also get a big kick going back at the end of the year and seeing just how wrong they were. While the Jets might have gotten "worse" in some folks eyes, I still see them as the primary competition in the East. The Patriots are always tough but continue to make mind-numbing personnel decisions. The Jets are trying "Washingtons overnight winners for dummies" approach to buying an NFL title. Whatever their offense provides will decide where they finish. Their defense is legit...but owned by Miami :yay: The rags will always be bandwagoneers picking the can't miss Saint-Colts and figuring the teams in the championship games should make some noise. We'll see. It is a long season and there are bound to be both good and bad surprises for every team.

I'm not into predictions ... but thought I'd add this fact to the discussion

Vegas odds: Wins Over/Under
Dolphins 8.5
Jets 9.5
Patriots 9.5

I'll take the over on Miami. I wouldn't bet on NE or NY though. That's tough. If I had to I would take the over on NE and under on NY too though, PZ.
