Post NFL Big Name Cuts
Hey guys, figure we'll keep up to date with the big names getting cut around the league as well. Post em here if you see a significant cut.

So far I've gotten 2 texts on big name cuts:

Quote:
- TJ Houshmandzadeh
- Matt Leinart
- Willie Parker

Is Lenhart really that bad? I thought he would be a pretty good NFL QB. I don't follow the Cards, so I really don't know. Is he an upgrade over Thigpan?

He doesn't seem to have a lot of zip on his passes. THey'd probably keep him as a backup, but he's been pretty adamant that he will not be backing up Anderson.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are not interested in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, according to a source. Houshmandzadeh has been cut by the Seattle Seahawks.

Playing with 85 may be in his future if he takes a pay cut. Boy that would be nice. I have Carson Palmer btw...

Schefter

Dolphins weren't only AFC East team today to cut a former second-round pick. Bills cut WR James Hardy, another former second rounder.

Ok, this is the time we all need to remember to cool our jets *pun

Lots of old has-beens and never-was..es... will be cut today. That doesn't mean we have to go get them. The team is pretty much set as far as starters go. Depth? We'll see. Nobody is going to cut a guard that we would start... well except us.

we need to get them all because they all want to play here & probably have ties down here as well.
Honestly , I could not agree with you more .... has beens & never was' at this point is spot on.

I would have been completely shocked if they went after a 33 year old WR.

Now in the entire NFL, T.J. is the one cut I don't get the most. He has 7mil coming to him from Seattle regardless if he plays for them or not. He was there leading reciever last year. Any team that signs him can pay him chump change for a year because he already gets 7mil (any $ from another team cuts away from the 7m to give Sea the discount). Why not keep him? He is the best WR on that putrid team. If a team like the Vikings got their hands on him... or the Bengals took him back... omg man. Seeing him as a FA really scares me.

If there is anyone on the list that can rush the passer, then we should take a hard look at that player.....

Post Re: NFL Big Name Cuts
we have been linked wth a te after martins release
and in some forums and twitter sites its anthony becht name

this tweet sums him up in my view

DolphinsNews

Anthony Becht? The John Ruiz of TE's? #Dolphins fans, he's a 33-yr old blocker. That's it. 18 catches total last 3 yrs

With the offensive line's woes, Becht could be a possibility. But he gives you nothing in passing game or special teams.

surely there is a better player than this to go after

I don't know how the practice squad works, so someone help me out... can we pick up one of these guys and put em on the PS??

If so, we need to give that kid Joique Bell a good look. He had impressive numbers in the preseason.

From Peter King's perspective ...

Peter King wrote:
Summing up, Leinart's a goner for these reasons: He wasn't accurate enough; he didn't make quick decisions on the field and execute them well; he never won the locker room over; coach Ken Whisenhunt thought he wouldn't be a good backup to Derek Anderson because he'd be so bummed by not winning the job he thought was surely his. And one more reason. Max Hall.

I'm suprised Troy Smith was cut.......You would have to carry 4 qb's though or get rid of Penny(which i wouldn't have a problem with)

Troy Smith would be a much better choice to run that Pistol package than Pat White was....and we gave up a 2nd round pick for White. Problem is, Pennington might be the best choice to take over for Henne if he stumbles. I think I would rather have Smith though, for the long term. Thigpen can take over for Henne if the need arises.

Oh...and Leinart....stinks. I predicted his demise in the NFL when he came out of USC, based on his lack of arm strength alone. Since he got to the NFL, he has added to his resume of things not to like...

James Hardy would be an excellent pickup. The guy was a beast at Indiana. He most certainly would have broken the Big Ten touchdown record had he stayed for his senior year. Not too sure why he washed out in Buffalo. I hope we make a move and possibly sign him to the practice squad. He could push Wallace for that 5th receiver spot easily.
