by: Mike Berardino November 12th, 2010 | 2:00 PM Miami Dolphins leading rusher Ronnie Brown had some strong words for his teammates this week, but they sort of got lost amid the whole Chad-for-Chad quarterback change and Brandon Marshall’s playoff “guarantee.”http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_fo ... l+Blogs%29
It was good to hear Brown, a consistent voice of reason in the Dolphins’ locker room, speaking out so forcefully. He seemed extremely focused this week, very upbeat, and I sense he’s feeling healthier than he has at any point since suffering that broken foot against the Bucs a little less than a year ago (Nov. 15, 2009).
“It’s time to man up as an individual and realize what you need to do,” Brown said. “If you need to spend more time in the classroom or studying, or put in extra work outside, whatever it is, we’ve got to man up as individuals and take responsibility for our actions and ultimately try to make this team better. … Whatever you need to do as an individual to make sure your performance is where it needs to be for this football team. Even just making sure you’re taking care of your body. Just little stuff. Everything.”
He also urged his teammates to puff out their chests and start acting like winners, even if their record says they are a break-even group still looking for that first home win.
“We just need to have a confidence about everything we’re doing,” he said. “No matter if we’re running the ball, passing the ball. It’s been said we need to have swagger as a team. You have to approach it with a certain mentality. I think if you approach it that way, plays will start to work and everything will start to fall in line.”
