HIP HIP..... HOORAY!!!!!! HIP HIP..........
Quote:
• Some around the Dolphins expect this will be the final season for offensive coordinator Dan Henning, who is respected by his players but has made some calls this season that mystified some of them. But he has never received more national criticism than after Thursday. ``I don't know what Henning was thinking,'' ESPN's Tedy Bruschi said of Miami's lack of rushing attempts. Said Mark Schlereth: ``Inexcusable. I could have put this game plan together with a box of crayons and pizza box.'' One caveat: Tyler Thigpen chose to pass on several plays he had the option to call runs.

I agree, Sparano should leave at the same time. He let Henning do what he wanted to and said nothing

So Sparano should get fired for not firing his OC mid-season?

I don't think getting rid of Sparano would be the right move.

Sparano is on thin ice in my book. The qb carousel was a stupid idea in a long line of stupid decisions. I'd say crap can the guy but we need some consistency on this team.

Some of his decisions have been bad, yes. But he's a first time coach...let's let him learn and not be too hasty to throw him overboard. He did, after all, resurrect this team from an abysmal 1-15 season.

Heck, with all the injuries, an incompetent offensive coordinator and incompetent special teams coach we're still a .500 club.

Where would Dave Wannstadt be with this team? Or Cam Cameron? Let's let the new front office and Sparano pick the new offensive coordinator instead of Parcells, and then decide if we want to throw him to the sharks.

I was patient with Wandstedt and Cameron, even though I was not hot on hiring either guy. I actually was against firing Cameron after only one year. Sparano is 2.5 seasons in now, yet we seem to be regressing. I guess we will wait and see.

I disliked both Wanny and Cameron and wanted them out. I see a world of difference with Sparano and think if he changes some things we'll be fine...if we regress next year I'll probably feel different.

I've got an idea, Since we want long term consistency why not sign Pennington to a head coaching contract. we've gotta start 'em young. (Shula, Noll, Madden, Gibbs, Gruden and Tomlin)

Yeah, except none of those guys started their coaching career as a head coach....I don't believe anyone has.

Sparano is not getting it done....the team is not prepared and lacks focus and commitment.

I say we hold on to Tony S for one more season, and hope SD fire Turner who we can hire as QB coach/Offensive coordinator and let him develop Henning. That would give the Dolphins two of the premier coordinators in the league. Then if things are still bad we can fire Tony S, and pick 1 of the coordinators as the new head coach. :yay:

Sparano's teams are pretty disciplined and he hasn't lost the team. He has made some mistakes, but I think the Dolphins are still moving in the right direction albeit very slowly. I say he and Ireland get another year.

I had to do a double-take on that as well. San Diego's problem is Norv Turner. Is he a good offensive coordinator? Well, he used to be. Is he a good head coach? Never at any of the teams that he has coached at. They always underachieve.

Every play goes past the head coach, if Sparano isn't seeing the same stupidity that everyone else is, then he needs to go too. Sparano looks to me like he is a weak head coach, I'm not too sure the players respect him and his leadership. I think they like him but I'm not too sure they fear and respect him as much as they should.

I like Tony. I'd like to see him get at least another year with new coaches.
I don't feel he's lost the team and he is the only one since Shula, IMO, that honestly cares about the guys on the team.
He isn't a jerk and I'd love to see him stay and succeed as our head coach.

I'm not up for the idea of firing Sparano. He's not making a massive difference, but he is learning. I'd rather have him learn and improve for us than start all over again with someone else who we don't know what they'll do.

And I was just reading that because of the labor situation, the top HC candidates (Cowher and Gruden) are expected to sit out the year unless they come into the 'perfect' situation.

I think we need to remember how young a football team this is and that this has been a major rebuilding project.

I think Sparano needs to tweak his staff, obviously Henning be the major move and if he is not coming back, this will be a huge hire for Tony. Tony needs to step up a little more as well.

The team is a disappointing 5-5 right now, but I am not ready to start over again just yet with a new regime
