The Miami Dolphins announced that Dawn Aponte has joined the team as Sr. Vice President of Football Operations. Aponte fills the role of Matt Thomas, who left the Dolphins to join the Cleveland Browns as Vice President-Football Administration. She will report directly to Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland and will oversee the team's salary cap, player contracts and budgets. Aponte will also serve as the team's liaison on league affairs.
A veteran football executive, Aponte joins the Dolphins after spending last season as Vice President, Football Administration with the Cleveland Browns. In her role with the Browns, Aponte's primary responsibilities included player contract negotiations, salary cap management and player cost budgeting, league compliance, and assisting in other legal matters.
I know she will be reporting directly to the tuna, but I don't know about this move. She has a bad reputation in Cleveland for being stubborn and was pinned as the person responsible for nearly running Cribbs out of town. Let's hope Parcells and Ireland keep her under control, we dont want to be known as the team that refuses to pay their players, we already have the Marlins in town for that..
