http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2010/03/03/marshall-gets-first-round-tender/

Quote:
The Broncos designated receiver Brandon Marshall as a first-round restricted free agent. This means if another team tries to sign Marshall, the Broncos would be entitled to a first-round draft pick in the 2010 draft.

Marshall would also receive a $2.521 million salary, a slight bump from the $2.198 million he made last season. The first-round tender should help facilitate a trade as it makes Marshall palatable for other teams to consider acquiring him _ the highest tender would have demanded a first- and third-round draft pick as compensation _ yet it would give the Broncos fair value in return.

So there's the asking price, how long until he's moved on? Who thinks we take a shot at this?

I do not see Miami moving on him, unless they trade down.. I see a team like Baltimore going after him.

Not that I thought the Dolphins would go after him but we definitely are out of the runnning now.

Interesting that they only gave him a first round tender, it just proves that they weren't planning on keeping him.

If I'm not mistaken Denver can match any offer or take the draft pick. Personally I think they believe Marshall's off field issues might keep the price lower than if they gave him a 1st & 3rd tender.

It does open them up to a poison pill type situation, but I believe the NFL has frowned upon teams doing that.

They have frowned on the use of the poison pill. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I read were the Ravens are possibly interested in Kevin Walter also, the WR with the Texans.

I don't think that they "only" gave him a first round tender.

It should be a 1st and a 3rd, because as far as I know, there are only 2 tenders.....1st and a 3rd, or a 2nd.

Only a first, same as they did with Orton.

I would offer a 2nd and Tyler Thigpen.

I would not give a 1st with all the money he is going to want and the possibly headaches.

I think Brandon Marshall and South Beach won't mix too well.

But hey we gambled with our 2nd's before.

I'm pretty sure it would have to be a first to get the deal done, you can't cut a deal once the tender has been placed.

I dont expect this to happen, but trading a first and a 3rd for a franchise type wide receiver makes plenty of sense to me.

His character will of course be questioned, but IF Parcells/Sparano/Ireland pulled the trigger on this deal, rest assure they will have confidence they can keep him corraled.

Personally, I wish we would do this deal. I believe Marshall is around 26 years old and could be a fixture in Miami's offense for another 5 years plus.

He would make an IMMEDIATE impact.

I'd give up our first for him in a heartbeat if I knew he wouldn't Pacman on us. Thats just it though, you don't know, which is why the Broncos have opened the door for him to leave. The question now becomes 'is he worth the gamble'?

Doooooo it. If Brandon Marshall were in this year's draft, would we not draft at number 12 anyway? Some people want Dez Bryant...he's just as much a liability, no?

Maybe, maybe not...well, most likely yes. But the odds of Marshall getting into trouble and the odds of Bryant being a bust are about the same, no?

After reading about Dez, he is off my board.

So for me, I don't want either of them. So it's a moot point.

Yes really. Denver traded their 1st rounder this year for Seattle's 2nd rounder last year.

It looks like Baltimore may be close to signing Kevin Walter, the WR from the Houston Texans. Peter King believes the Ravens will not make a bid for Marshall.

I would not mind seeing Miami do a deal like the Jets did with the Chargers of offering a 2nd round pick in 2011. Marshall comes with so much baggage that I don't know if any team will want to offer the 1st round pick.

It has come out in the trial in the murder of Darrant Williams that the situation escalated because of Marshall and a friend continuing to get into it with Willie Clark, the guy that is accused of murdering Durrant.

ESPN is saying the Jets might be willing to make a play for Marshall.
