Post Mort is reporting....
Mort just reported on ESPN that the Cards are going to be actively seeking to trade Boldin, even if that means for a 3rd and 5th round draft pick. Named the Phins on his list of teams that would be interested.

So, if that's the case, a 3rd and a 5th for Boldin, would you guys want to pick him up?

Absolutely! I don't think the answer to our offensive question is in this draft.

We know exactly what we're getting in Boldin, as opposed to hoping a drafted WR pans out.

What we get is a YAC stud, which is huge for a young QB. & the veteran presence goes a very long way. Q can bring a attitude & a belief in winning that our our offense desperately needs

What did we get in the 5th round anyway? John Nalbone?

I hear what you're saying. I think he is worth a 3rd & 5th. If this is the case, I say we try and get him.

We all know the Phins haven't liked to give up picks with this regime.

But this might be one they really look at.

Post Re: Mort is reporting....
Quote:
NEW ORLEANS -- I promised you I'd try to catch up with Arizona Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin after this playoff game between the Saints and Cardinals.

I keep my promises.

And the news for Dolphins fans hoping to see Boldin in a Dolphins uniform next season is not great.

Boldin, you see, told me as he walked out of the Arizona locker room that he will not request a trade this offseason.

"No," Boldin told me following Arizona's 45-14 loss to New Orleans said. "I'm going to let it play out."

Boldin is under contract to Arizona for the 2010 season at a scheduled pay of $3 million. It is the final year of his deal. And considering he's a 1,000-yard caliber receiver, he believes he has been underpaid for some time and wants the deal redone.

Because of that, Boldin has, through his agents, asked for a new contract and even requested to be traded in the past when a new contract didn't come.

That approach is apparently changing for Boldin.

Well, it really doesn't matter what Boldin "wants" now does it?

Mort reported that the Cards are seeking to trade him. I'm sure not every player that's been traded has been happy about it.

Just because a player isn't looking to get traded doesn't mean it won't happen.

Well maybe his new agent told Boldin that it'll be a lot easier to make a trade happen if you're not acting like a jackass. Who wants to trade for a demanding player?

For a 3rd and 5th, i'd jump all over this. Parcells hates giving up his picks, but this is year 3 of the plan, and this is supposedly the year that we are supposed to make our push. If we add Boldin, we instantly have an offense to be reckoned with.

First off, Miami doesn't have a 5th Rd pick, that went to KC for Thigpen. Second, I can't see the brass giving up multiple picks for one player. They gave up a 4th two years ago for two players.

I'd prefer they gave up a pick and a player, or they seek to acquire some more picks first and then use those to get Boldin. There are some serious needs on this team.

Don't underestimate what New England or Baltimore might do to get Boldin. New England has a lot of picks to deal if they so choose coupled with no Welker, an underperforming Moss, and some lackluster depth. Baltimore may be losing both Clayton and Mason. Hell if I were Miami I would dangle Ginn in front of Cameron and see if Baltimore would overpay for him.

I just wish these guys werent head cases. Friends of mine in Arizona siad they are questioning his injuries , saying they thought he could have played in at least this last playoff game & maybe even the first. The word soft is coming up with his name.
Still , we need receivers & he is looking at Leinart maybe instead of a slinger like Warner. But with no Fitzgerald on the other side we might see the real Boldin.
Worth the risk ... I guess ... maybe not our answer but certainly an improvement.

I would want to know a lot more about his current injury status before making any move on this trade. His current injury status has not been made clear at all to the media.....

A 3rd and a 5th (not that we ever have a 5th), for A Boldin, that is

2005 Crowder and Alabi (3rd and 5th)

2006 Hagan and Toledo (3rd and 4th)

2007 Booker and Solaia (3rd and 4th)

2008 Langford and Murphy (3rd and 4th)

Which year was the draft, for those picks, more useful than A Boldin?

I suggest none of them, possibly 2005 or 2008 but not imo.

Actually I think that is a team Ginn would do well on. Although, they might rather have a 4th then a 4th and Ginn...

This isn't even a debate....3rd and a 5th for Boldin? Where do we sign up??

I predicted this before the season started that they would look to trade him, and that those 1st round picks they wanted was BS.

I don't think he will be traded for a 3rd and a 5th....I think more likely it ends up being a 2nd and a 5th as some team, (Baltimore, hopefully Miami), will certainly offer that with no problems.

If we can add Boldin for a second day, and third day picks, I'll be the happiest man on the planet.

Lol. Kind of funny as this is the third straight Off Season that we are calling for this guy.

A 3rd and 5th for a 30 yr old reciever who has a history of injuries? Are you guys sure? He's only played 2 full seasons out of 7. I would have to say no. I am also not ready to give up on Ginn yet either.

Ginn = epic fail at WR........time to move on. Some potential as a return man ...... provided he isn't touched at all during the return.

Boldin is worth it, IF his current injury is not serious......and I have not heard any solid reporting about his current injury status.

Boldin and soft should not be in the same sentence together.

He only turns 30 during next season. The reason he has had those injuries are because of his physical nature and his relentlessness after the catch. We need somebody like that.

Yes he gets injuried alot but they use him a hell of a lot too, and we are a power team that runs the ball. Now that being said a 3rd and a 5th (that we dont have) might be to much for the brass to pull the trigger.

He is a great physical receiver that can catch and make the big play & can run block

Might wait to see that they ask for B.Marshall.

If he came here how do you think we would abuse/use him? I still like the head case that doesn't cost a pick.

Why is there always an assumption that any draft pick we trade away would equal talent? Boldin is already a proven receiver. 3rd and 5th round picks are huge question marks. What is the success rate for a 3rd round pick? or a 5th? Take the guy who has already proved it on the field.

Did Mort report this on a radio show, tv through espn, or what? I was watching NFL Live and didn't see any report regarding Boldin?

No he wasn't. Regardless, Anquan hasn't played a full season since 06, and even then that was only his second full season in his 7 years as a pro.
Other than his rookie year, Boldin has always had the likes of Fitz playing next to him. I'm not sold.

Actually he was a 3rd rounder.

And yeah....his rookie season he posted 1300 receiving yards.

I really think Fitzgerald has benifited just as much from Quan an he has from Fitz.

I agree completely. He (Boldin) has monstrous talent, no doubt, but geez what good will he do if he is on the bench in the trainer's room? I also think that his ilk (huge and fast) at WR is becoming more the norm in college football, and there are younger 'big' men coming out who are just as quick. I don't deny that he is an impact layer, but are we really best-served by going after a guy for what would be his eighth year for huge money that he will command, when 5 of the previous seven he had booboos?

Ah, I was thinking Hartline then Turner. It was the other way around. Regardless, yeah he had 1300 yards, but ever since he hasn't been able to stay healthy.

Miami fans have always had a fascination with Boldin since the day Wanny passed on him for Eddie Moore in draft day '03.

While still a top Wr when playing. Boldin is generally always nursing an injury & any team that trades for him will not only have to give up picks in a very deep draft, but also pony up maga bucks to make him happy.

Not a big fan on giving big bucks to aging injury prone players for performances that happened on another team.

I'd sign Boldin as a FA, but to also give up picks for him is to much of a price to pay.
