Post Burning DVD's - please help!
OK any help would be appreciated. Here is the deal - I just started downloading movies off sites like BT JUnkie with U torrent. I also have xilosoft video converting software (ultimate). When you download a movie it is in avi format. Now most of my DVD players in my house play that but of course the one that does not is in my kids room & I have downloaded some Disney movies for them. Here is my problem - a blank DVD-R is 4.7 gigs & when I burn it to DVD (the extension is VOB) it is always more than 4.7 gigs. If I choose other extensions like MP4 it is way under. So will MP4 work on standard DVD players? I know I can just use up some blank disks to see but before I start wasting them I thought I would ask. Also once I have it converted I can burn it onto a DVD using Roxio or Nero & doing it as data ... correct?? Any help is really appreciated. You can email me as well.

Thanks!

Look up a program called Super DVD Creator. It will convert those into DVD format for use on all dvd players. There are may others that will do it as well, but I've used this one before and had a lot of success with it.

Think I got it ... very weird. Downloaded a movie in AVI format about 700 megs. Converted it into DVD format (VOB) & it said it was like 4.3 gigs. Burned it onto a DVD & the burner said it was only 2.1 gigs so plenty of room to fit on a DVR. And it is only 2.1 gigs. Maybe burner compresses file?? Plays fine on a DVD player!!
Sometimes all this technology is a pain in the butt!!
Thanks for the help.
