I really disagree with fining Ed Reed $55K for this hit. It is as legal as it gets. I understand that receivers and quarterbacks need to be protected, but if a person gets finded for a hit like this then they may want to start putting flags on the receivers.

It was helmet to helmet & the amount has more to do with the recent past.

I don't think the helmets ever collided. Reeds shoulder impacted the head of Cruz. In any case, if they're going to flag hits like that...every crackback which happens almost every play would be illegal. Reed didn't lead with the helmet, which is the kind of hit that leads to serious injury.

I honestly don't see it. He turned his helmet and hit him with his shoulder. In fact, it would be what I would consider a prettyhit.

As far as the amount of the fine, that he would deserve if guilty. He would also be lucky that they didn't try to suspend him again as the Ravens are in the playoffs.

He lead with his shoulder into Cruz's chest area. That is just a good clean football hit!

Stop the video at the :08 mark prior to the hit. Then do a quick click & stop to move the video along. The first thing touched on Cruz's body is his head & it is snapped towards the camera. It appears to be Reeds helmet that does it.

Either way that is not a legal hit on a Wr catching a pass.
