It's just a precaution as the Dolphins look towards next year. The big problem with concussions, besides bruising the brain, is that players do not give their brains significant time to heal.

Tagovailoa was named a first alternate to the Pro Bowl, meaning he would get an invitation if one among the three AFC quarterbacks named to the Pro Bowl team (Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, Buffalo’s Josh Allen and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow) were unavailable to participate due to injury or their team advancing to the Super Bowl.

Tagovailoa is now guaranteed to be invited because either Mahomes or Burrow will play in the Super Bowl. However, the 24-year-old will not participate in the all-star event as he continues to recover, the source said.

Tagovailoa has not had a setback, but doctors are being cautious in his return from what was either his second or third concussion this season.

II’m so tired of the Twitter fan boys running around all the time saying “He’s fine, he shoudl play.”
“Nothing wrong with him, he’s good to go.” “I can’t wait to have him back, he’s fine.”

The kid is 24 and has suffered, what I would assume to be at minimum some sort of brain injury. You dont get knocked out like he did, basically paralyzed, without some damage. End of story. How long it took him to regain it or if it did permanent damage, I’m not a Brian doctor. But, being around martial arts as long as I have, there’s no doubt in my mind that being knocked out like that leaves lasting effects. It’s not good for you. Plenty of science to prove that, and it’s why I no longer spar to hard contact / full contact.

The kid is 24, if e wants to play, it’s his decision. If he wants to retire and focus on his life and health, I respect that. But Dolphins fans just ignoring the fact he was laid out in what looked to be one of the worst situations in football in a while, shoudlnl’T be so quick to tell people what they think he shoudl be doing.

If I were him, I’d be having to take a really hard look at what my figure would be like if I took another shot in the head.

Ahh, the good old days when Jammer & I (Ski was on board as well) had the perfect chessboard mapped out to draft Lawerence…

IMO Tua simply does not want to play in the PB, but yet does not want to decline it. Being an Alt. was disrespectful to him and what he did on the field last yr. I'd decline as well. We all know the PB is nothing but a joke. I'd rather watch them do challenges like what QB can throw the ball the farthest, than play a farce of a game. Fastest player Etc..... than to watch that game.

So, others should stop saying what they think Tua should do while on the other hand you think he should ... ? : )

I had a map too....for Joe Burrow.

In the last two games of the 2019 season, Miami beat Cinci in OT and then NE to close the season at 5-11. If they had truly tanked, had the front office taken over and told Flores to play Rosen those last two games instead of Fitzpatrick (Rosen was 0-3 in games he started that season), it is very likely Miami ends 3-13, tied with Cinci but with the head to head loss Miami would have drafted one overall.

And for those who think it’s outrageous to “throw” 2 games on purpose, the explanation is simple, Miami needed to know what they had in Rosen before addressing the QB position in the off-season. Plausible in most views, but not that it mattered, by now who would remember or care?

Of course, the Bengals being smarter than this front office (isn’t everyone?), it’s possible they would have played their punter at QB in the last game vs. Cleveland, losing it instead of winning it as they did, but we’ll never ever know, and instead we get to see what could have been playing in his second SB.

For somebody else.

And we wouldn’t have to be wasting time teaching an NFL level athlete how to fall. They already have paid the farm to prop him up with a left tackle and stud WR, what can possibly be left to do?

1. Not sure where I said “people should stop posting”, I said I was tired of reading the one sided story of “He should play without consideration for his health.” That’s the fan boy part.

2. If you continue to read, you’ll notice I said if he decides to play, I’ll respect that, if he chose to stop playing, I’ll respect that too. So…. Yeah.

3. Science is really clear about brain damage, taking shots to the noggin isn’t good for you, in any sport. It’s even been studied taking shots to the chest area, still impacts your brain… so yeah… I will stand on the idea that I would support him either way. Which is what I said in my original post.

4. The I went on to say, and I’ll say it again, if I were him, I’d have to take a hard look at what the future of my heal would be, if I took another shot like he did.

You’re entitled to say “I’m tired of reading people say he shoudn’t play”, but I dind’t tell anyone to not say what they wanted, just said I’m tired of reading the one narrative from fan boys.

The Glory Days of Phinfever...

And yes, I would still have made that trade.

Well, we have seen what happens when Flores and the front office disagree. That lawsuit is still happening.
